Question about 1994 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Engine will not turn over..

"94" chevy silverato 2500. engine will not turn over...New gas pump,new spark plugs,new distributor cap,new battery,air-filter is clean, refit computor, all fuses are intact, there is gas and the lines are flowing...What else am I missing.

You do not specify if the starter is working....if it is....remove all your spark plugs and try it....I once had a vehicle with a blown head gasket.....a cylinder filled up with coolant from the radiator.....if the cylinder is full and the valves are closed....liquid can not be compressed....and it will lock the engine....removing the spark plug will allow the liquid to be pumped out....

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. Does distributor turn when you crank it? If spark everywhere, check fuel. If you have a carb, mechanical fuel pump, sometimes you can take fuel supply line loose from carb, aim into container, bump the engine, see if gas comes out, if no gas have to back track. If there is gas, take the air horn off carb, depending on the carb, you may be able to remove air horn w/o removing carb, see if any gas in float bowl, if no gas, maybe you need a carb kit?
Any vehicle needs fuel--spark--compression, right amount at the right time.

If it turns, then the battery is OK. Either spark plugs are not firing in proper order (wrong firing order), no power to spark plugs, or no fuel because of fuel restrictions (dirty fuel filter). Inspect the air filter to ascertain its not clogged air. If you smell gas, then you saturated the spark plugs, which is why it refuses to run.
Let it sit for half hour to let spark plugs dry. Inspect to ascertain its not dirty spark plugs, which will also prevent engine from running. After ascertaining its proper firing order, spark plugs are clean, and there's power to distributor cap, ascertain there's fuel in fuel lines by squirting half second (short squirt) of starting fluid into air filter. Close the air filter housing to trap flammable starting fluid gas. Turn engine without giving throttle. Let starting fluid be ignited by spark plugs. If it won't start, then spark plugs are not firing to ignite starting fluid gas. If it starts briefly, but won't run when you give throttle, but catches when a 2nd person squirts more starting fluid into air filter just before engine stalls, then its a fuel restriction issue or no fuel in fuel lines.

I have a 1990 mitsubishi might max it wont run smooth unless you keep your foot on the gas and keep the rpms up a little bit and it wont drive cause it stalls everytime you try to move it. ive replaced the...


You've already eliminated the spark plug & wireset, distributor cap & rotor.
Sounds like your car needs a tune-up, specifically, the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve, and/of the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve.

Components checked/replaced during a tune-up are:
air filter
motor oil
motor oil filter
breather filter
fuel filter(s)
fuel strainer
PCV valve
EGR valve
spark plugs
spark plug wires
ECM or distributor cap & rotor
cabin air filter
transmission oil filter
transmission oil
engine coolant
check all vacuum hoses and lines

My chevy C3500 4x2 diesel crew cab is turning over but wont start i checked all the fuses do u think it may be at fuel pump r a line stopped up or a senser


You need air, fuel, and spark to start your vehicle. It may be the fuel pump, filter, fuel pump fuse/relay. You should be able to hear the fuel pump kick on when you first turn your key. Fuel goes to the pump, filter, lines, and engine. If it is getting gas, you need to check for spark. Spark plugs/coil wires, distributor, dist.cap, cam sensor, ect. It can be anyone of them. Check for gas and spark.

1993 Chevy S10 Blazer engine hesitation with smoke from exhaust


Had a 94 Olds Bravada that did a similar thing and it was EGR valve on the front of the intake. It' s easy to take off and clean with WD 40 and if you have an air compressor blow it out good.

92 C1500 Chevy wont start. Changed plugs, wires, distributor, rotor and fule filter. Pump runs when key is turned on. Poured gas to the distributor and starts up and runs fine. but jerks ar high rpms...


So you threw parts at it. No harm intended. Should have started with the adding gas part first. You know the filter is new and it does run! Are the fuel pump amps correct,pump mech bound,no fuel volume, pressure regulator work correctly? Does the pump run in start mode or time out? Now the harder stuff. What does the spark and timing look like,What is the computer seeing and then what command is it sending?
