It's from moisture. If you only do short trips....but, make sure your coolant is staying full, that you aren't getting coolant in the engine oil.
If that's ok, you should be fine.

What do i need to buy for a tune up on my 2000 hyundai elantra

Just wanted to tune up my 2000 elantra, was wondering what i needed to do. Plugs, wires, distribitor cap, and button, fuel filter, and air filter. Anything else.

how many miles does it have on it?since you are doing all that i would change the transmission fluid and filter to...and if havent had oil change in awhile would do that to..any other questions feel free to ask...and that should be about it

Timing marks for 2000 hyundai elantra 2.0 motor

The crank sprocket has a white mark that lines up with a line behind it cast into the oil pump cover. The camshaft sprocket has a marking that says UP with a hole. Use the hole to sight the timing mark on the cam bearing cap behind the sprocket.

I have a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country minimvan that has a 3.8L V-6 engine. Water gets out of radiator but no leaks are seen under vehicle. Water in reservoir tankstays full even though radiator is low of...

You may have a faulty rad cap, grab a new one at autoparts store, and try this first. With engine cool, take rad cap off, start engine & turn heater(not defrost) on. Top up coolant in rad to 1-2" from top. Let it run with cap off and add coolant as needed, until the engine reaches normal operating temperature, and the rad fan comes on, then shuts back off. Let it run like this until that fan comes on & off at least 3 times. Add coolant as needed in rad, while you watch it, and rev engine slightly every once in a while for 5 or 10 seconds. After rad fan has come on & off 3 times, make sure to top up coolant to 1-2" from top in rad, and put your new rad cap on all the way, and now lets see what happens. If at any time the temperature gauge goes up too close to hot, shut it off, let it cool down & try again. Top up coolant bottle to marked level .Let me know. It should now run normal temperature and have heat as required. If yu feel ambitious, it never hurts to change thermostat if it hasn't been done in a while, but at this time, it may not be necessary. My guess is problem is faulty rad cap & an airlock in your system. After all this is done, if all seems o.k. keep an eye on coolant level, my guess is it will be o.k. , if not get back to me.

2000 Elantra Overheating

First when vehicle is cold like in the morning check and make sure that the vehicle has enough coolant/ antifreeze in radiator and reservoir. If coolant is need use a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze. You will need some time to do this let car run at idle until the temp guage is in the middle NOT+ normal operating temperature. At this point if the thermostat should be in the open position. Let vehicle run and check to make sure that radiator fan comes on. This should come on when guage is about midway/half way. If temperature rises above half going to h/hot and fan doesn't come on, you either have a BAD FAN BAD FAN SWITCH BAD FAN RELAY OR BLOWN FAN SWITCH FUSE. You will need to check all of the following I will help if its needed. If fan comes on and doesn't go off and vehicle continues to get hot even with fan running. Feel radiator hoses and see if the lower radiator hose is cool/cold. If it is you have thermostat that stuck closed. Replace thermostat and fix problem. If all the above is good and vehicle continues to over heat. THE BAD NEW IS THAT YOU MAY HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET /CRACKED HEAD /BROKEN WATER JACKET. Basically you will need a HEAD JOB at least a head gasket. ONe tell tail sign of this is oil looking like milkshake/chocolate milk-a creamish while residue in oil or antifreeze. If this smoke last for a long time or get worst as this vehicle get warmed up or when vehicle is hot. YOU HAVE A BAD HEAD GASKET TO SAY THE LEAST or may be blown/craked head. Check oil and coolant for mixture with a bad gasket oil and antifreeze should be mixing depending on how long its been since this happen. Check under oil cap for creamish white residue that a sure tell tale sign. Check for fan running constantly or vehicle over heating. I have a 316 bmw an its overheating. i changed outside ratiator thermosat water pump an the head gaskets fine. could it be the inside ratiator

Definitely can be the radiator.... if not take second look at that head gasket look under cap for a creamish deposit, that one sign of coolant and oil mixing. Good Luck
