If it's a newer Pontiac (1999-2010), then it's 5w30. Anything older than that usually takes 10w30. In any case, you can use either one. I would go with the 5w30 because it services both your top and bottom end of your engine and is better for it in the long run. I would also recommend using a full synthetic or a blend as well to keep down the deposits and keep power in the engine.

I just purchased a 06 pontiac torrent. no service record. What kind of oil do i use in this suv? It has 100300 miles on it.

Try a 10w 40 weight.
If you live is a hotter climate use a 20 w 50.
The old addage about "once you use synthetic oil you have to for the life of the car" isn't true.
You just can't mix the two types of oil.
Good luck,Gary

What kind of oil does my 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT V-6 Ram Air take?

The company recommendation can be seen on the oil fill tube cover. They recommend for 5w20 and 5w30 type of oil . They also have the own brand recommendation written there.

But my personal recommendation would be to go to 10w 30 type (if you are not living in ares where temperature falls below freezing conditions).

What kind of oil for a 2004 grand prix

no regular oil will not hurt this car. I highlt recommend using a castrol 5-W30 it is tar based oil rather than wax based and will not clog your engine. You can use synthetic oil which costs much more but it is not necessary.
