Yes, you'll need the proper A/C clutch removal tool. The clutch doesn't seal the compressor.

Have a 1990 buick electra....the 20 amp fuse which controls the air conditioning & heat area keeps blowing immediately once replaced. Any ideas?

this fuse probably controls the ac clutch operation and/or the blower fan motor.. Disconnect the ac clutch at the connection next to the clutch pack behind the pulley. fit new fuse and if it blows then the problem will be in the fan motor control/ motor. If not then it will be the ac compressor clutch pack

We had our 97 Buick radiator and fuel tank replaced. Now the mechanic sys that our air compressor looks bad and may go at anytime and that job is $800.00 to repair. I need to drive the car this weekend on...

It is likely the air conditioning compressor that works the AC--sounds like someone is trying to drum up some extra business and f e w more dollars.

Need instructions to replace ac comp clutch bearing on 2000 buick la sabor 3800 engine

Yes you need special tools. You need to remove the compressor clutch and the bearing. Then you need to press the bearing off the clutch and when installing you need to set the air gap.If you are not familiar whit this repair you should take it to a repair shop.Sometimes it can be done in the car without recovering the freon and sometimes not.Depending on how much clearance there is.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Problem with heating and air conditioning. The driver's side is blowing hot air and the passenger side is blowing cold air

Air Conditioner blows warm air
  1. Air conditioner system is discharged. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by an MVAC certified technician, utilizing approved recovery/recycling equipment. Repair as necessary.
  2. Air conditioner compressor clutch not engaging. Check compressor clutch wiring, electrical connections and compressor clutch, and repair or replace as necessary.

Compresser runs battery dead

There may be two compressors. One for the air conditioning that runs off a belt bolted onto the engine. No, you don't need it if your windows will go down this summer. As long as it turns, it doesn't have to compress. (You can have other things wrong with air conditioning also). If there's absolutely nothing else being driven by that belt, the belt could even be removed if the compressor is frozen. That would save a little gas if that can be done. There might be another compressor, a little thing mounted on the drivers side inner fender well on some cars. It's for the rear shocks if the car has that kind. If the car still rides and handles ok, you can live without that guy too. Sometimes you replace the shocks with regular ones.
