I have a 1997 F250, 460, Truck will not run on front tank, if I switch to the rear it runs great. If The truck is running on the rear and I switch to the front tank, the truck dies. Ideas?

Have the fuel pressure checked on the front pump when this happens. You either have a defective fuel pump, a defective switch over poppet valve or a defective dash fuel tank selection valve. switch.

My 1991 Buick park avenue keeps blowing the fuel pump fuse

Somewhere along the harness to the Fuel tank, you will find that, probably due to age of vehicle. That the harness protective sheath, has chafed on a rough edge, or other contact point, on its journey to the rear.
Alternately, the Pump may have failed internally, creating a Ground out.
Disconnect the electric coupling at the tank, and circuit test the Power supply, coming down that line, from the front, by inserting a NEW fuse, of the correct AMP rating, and switch on the ignition. If the fuse does not blow, then you are alert to a Pump fault, if it does, then the remedy,is in finding the Ground out along the run of the harness. Using a Multimeter, the power to the pump should exceed 12.0 volts from the front of vehicle supply, anything lower, is an electrical supply fault.

Hi:
You might have two seperate problems:

If fuel is draining from the rear tank to the front, there is a tank shuttle valve located on the drivers side frame rail that is the most likely suspect to fix that.
It costs around $120 or so, and when it fails, you get that siphoning going on, and often the front tank wont pump at all.
In your case, if the engine is running rough off the front tank, you might have another issue, such as a bad in tank fuel pump, but the shuttle valve needs changed first , so maybe it might fix the other problem too!

?87 F-150 5.0 stalled and won?t restart. Electric

Is the fuel pump inside the fuel tank? If, so, you could try disconnecting the wire harness at the tank, and hot-wiring the fuel pump directly to a 12 volt source, in the correct polarity of course! If the pump runs, your problem may be a fuel pump relay, or a wire problem or connector problem. If the pump does NOT run, post that info. There may be a way around the problem!

The fuse for the fuel pump is pretty much the toggle switch between tanks, if that goes out, you will not have either tank.. IF you had an accident, there is a kill switch somewhere behind the dash on that truck that disables the fuel pump and must be reset.

Front fuel tank will not work

You have duel tanks with a fuel pump in each tank. You also have a fuel pump on the frame rail after the "tank selector". This device only holds a fuel filter that protects the main fuel pump. When you select front or rear tank on the dash, you are selecting which in tank fuel pump will operate. You can check the in tank fuel pump by listening for it to "humm" when the key is turned on..The in tank pumps only feed the main pump and cannot run the engine on their own. Hope this helps
