Question about 2004 Toyota Solara

1 Answer

Recently replaced the battery in my wife's 04 Solara. Now the sunroof will not work "automatically" like it did before. I now have to hold the button, when I only had to press and hold for a second before. How do I return the sunroof to it's "automatic" operation?

INITIALIZATION
1. INITIALIZATION OF SLIDING ROOF MOTOR
(a) The sliding roof AUTO operation and the jam protection function may not operate normally if the battery
is disconnected/reconnected, replaced or recharged. Initialize the sliding roof system using the method
below.
(1) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(2) Initialize the sliding roof by pressing and holding the TILT UP switch until the roof glass tilts upward
fully (the roof glass automatically tilts downward slightly after fully tilting upward).
(3) Release the switch.
HINT:
If the battery terminal is disconnected, the moon roof control ECU may not detect the position of the roof
glass. If the sliding roof AUTO operation is still disabled even after the sliding roof drive gear has been initialized,
the hall IC may be malfunctioning. The hall IC is built into the sliding roof drive gear and detects the
roof glass position.
If the result is not as specified, replace the drive gear assy (moon roof control ECU).

Water under dashboard passenger floor

If you have a sunroof, that may be your issue. I had a similiar problem when it would rain. After a good rain, water would pour from my front side pillars when making turns, which allowed me to see how water got on the floor.

SOLUTION:
1. Open sunroof, stand up so you can fully see sunroof tracks.
2. In the right/left front corners of the the sunroof tracks are small vent holes (locate them). All sunroofs have these holes in the event of minimal water leakage.
3. Take a 2-3 ft strand of solid wire approx 18ga, insert into vent holes to clear out any type of debris, or build-up. (the dealer wants to charge you $$$ to send your vehicle to another facility to do water test for leakage)
4. Last, take a decent sized squeezable cup filled with hot water (not too hot to hold cup), enough to slowly pour is into sunroof track/vent holes. This will ensure you actually pushed any debris down the vent tubing.
5. If you cleared any build-up from the vent holes, you should see water puddles on the ground, or just have someone watch for leakage near the back of the front wheel well.

Hope it works, I performed this same manuever on my wifes 2009 Jeep Patriot, and filled some corner gaps in the tracking with silicon ($2.89 small tube), when the dealer wanted $150 for leak diagnostics. "Really"

Good Luck

No response to opening the sun roof on a 2006 Cadillac 2006 CTS. Battery recently replaced.

Hold down or up the sunroof button for up to ten seconds and then retry. Some circuits such as this type require resetting before they will work again, and this is typically the method for reset.
If this doesn't work, then also check any related fuse.

2006 RX330, After having battery problems, I can't open all the windows from the driver's door. All the windows work from their respective door. Any suggertions? Thanks Tom

Each window has a pressure sensor that must be reset each time the battery is disconnected. My wife has an '04 RX330. According to the owner's manual for '04, to reset the pressure sensor for a window, bring the window down half-way, using the control on the same door as the window and then raise it back up, holding the up position on the control for 1 second after the window is all the way up.

On the '04, this brings window control back to driver's side module.

Sunroof on Infinity QX4 (2001) won't work properly, the automatic open button only opens it about 2 inches at a time.

Good news I found out from a forum and it worked for me. Here it is

: 2002 pathfinder sunroof acts up after replacing battery (CKirbyjr) 5:30 PM 5/9/2008 qt.gif reply.gif edit.gif

Welcome to NICO -- The same thing happens whenever I disconnect my battery.
Try opening the sunroof all the way (2 inches at a time) and then close it (again two inches at a time). Turn the vehicle off and on again. Sunroof should operate normally.
I'm not sure if the last step is required but I've always done it anyway. It's worked all three times I've had my battery disconnected.
