Question about 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe with the 6 cyl. engine. I wanted to change the spark plugs. I can get to the front ones easy enough, but the back ones appear to be under the intake manifold. How would I best remove the manifold to access the spark plugs?

Don't take the manifold off....... see if perhaps the window wiper dip tray will be enough room to access the rear plugs.....do not remove intake.

4 cyl 2002 hyundai santa fe knock sensor

How do you know it's the sensor? my 20 yr old car different make complained via an engine light, the code said knock sensor several times. had issues with ignition wires fixed. Almost all sensors had corrosion at their connections. I cleaned to bright metal both sides and round toothpick then slide back and forth so that contact areas are mating properly. Not easy to change, Location, since DIYer and you will want one next time Repair manual from an auto parts store. Easy to refer to in the middle of repair.

Hyundai santa fe starter were is it located

On the 3 different engines (4 cyl & both V6s) on LH side (radiator side) below the exhaust manifold. All have two14mm bolts mounting them to the engine.

04 Sante Fe . OBD #2 cyl misfire. Where is #2. Is it on the front or the back where I have no clue how to get to it.

If you are standing in front with hood open # 2 cylinder is the front cylinder to your left, the cylinders go like this, the front cylinders from left to right are cyl 2, cyl 4 and cyl 6 then then rear cylinders from left to right go cyl 1 , cyl 3 and cyl 5. so the cylinder you are looking for is in the front first one on your left good luck, hope this helps.

I need to replace spark plugs and wires on my santa fe v-6. Do i need to remove the intake manifold?

There may be an engine cover over the valve covers that is a big piece of plastic that may say Hyundai, or Santa Fe,

I believe its three or four 10mm retaining nuts that hold it on, take that engine cover off, and there should be 3 wires in the top of each valve cover, those big wires are the spark plug wires, and they actually connect to the spark plug which is down inside the cylinder.
To remove, you will need a 3/8 drive ratchet, a long extension, I would say 6-12 inches, long enough, but not too long, and a 5/8" spark plug socket.
Take one of the spark plug wires out, and put your long extension with the spark plug socket on it down into the hole that the big wire came out of and you should find a spark plug at the end of the tunnel.

How to change spark plugs on hyundai 2004 2.4L

Remove the plastic cover that goes over the engine (the one with the Hyundai logo).
At this point, you will see the cables that goe to each fo the spark plugs.
Noting their position, remove them.
The spark plugs are ready to be removed, turn counterclockwise and replace with manufacturer recomended ones.
