Where is a picture for a cam shaft sensor fo 2004 maxima

If you have a 3.5 engine there are two cam shaft sensors(one for each cam)As you look at the engine they are at the right end of the engine,at the end of the cam shafts. They tend to go at the same time,or close to one another so replace both while you are at it.They are held in place with one bolt.Go to the auto store and get the new ones and it will make your job a little easier. good luck

I am getting an error code for cam shaft sensors on a 2002 Nissan max. Is is complicated to go under the hood and replace them?

It is not difficult. It is located on the timing cover on the passenger side of the engine. You'll see a wire harness going to a hall effect sensor with a 10mm bolt. They should cost around $80.

However, there was also a Recall in 2003, ID# 46615 involving a bad solder joint on the crank and cam sensor control boards. You can read about it here:

I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima and the check engine light has come on. One of the codes being reported is P0021. It seems to be related to a cam position sensor. Does anyone know the location of the sensor?...

is the check engine light on?? i would suspect your crank angle sensor. replace the cam sensors too. nissan had problem(there is a campaign) with those, so they came out with a crank and cam sensor kits. get the kit ( at a dealer ) and install it. actually have your nissan dealer run your VIN number to see if you don't have open campaign for it, if so, they will replace them for FREE. But that's what I would be looking at if one of those came to me to fix.
