Take your car to Autozone while light is on and they will check it and tell you why it is on for free. The reason it goes off and comes back on again is because after starting car a certain amount of times it will automatically go off but will come back on if problem is not fixed.

Suggestion: While the light is still on, get the codes from the ECU at your local parts house. e.g. Autozone, Advanced Auto etc. This is a free service and may tell you exactly what is amiss!

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I would check every single fuse in the car. Blown fuses can cause weird issues like this. While the initial issue with the mechanic does sound like an alarm problem....the rest does not unless the shop that installed it really butchered the job.

It could or could not be true. The engine light can mean a number things, the best thing to do is get a scan on the vehicle . The scan will tell you exactly (in most cases) what the problem is.It could be a cylinder is misfiring or maybe an injector is partially blocked

My check engine light is on and it feels like whenever i'm idle or i stop at a light that it's going to die on me. the light came on about 2 days ago then went away for a day or 2 and is now back on,

you need to bring it to auto zone or advance auto parts get it checked out for free. then you will know what is triggering the engine light.

Check engine light came on this morning, mazda 3 09', it has 14,500 miles, i just got an oil change at the dealership a few days ago, also i think the gas cap was a little bit loose i noticed the last time...

I would take it back to the dealer and tell them the check engine light came on not long after oil change. Have them run the code on their's a reasonable request!

A loose gas cap will defintely trigger the engine light, but in most cases, it will reset itself within one week. Some cars don't have a reset which forces you to have a mechanic reset it for you.
