1998 Buick Century Custom, all four windows wont go up or down. I replaced the drivers window switch and checked all three fuses. Is there a part in the drivers door that controls all windows??? History is, sometimes the windows would work then sometimes not. Was wondering is there is a control module in the drivers door. maybe a bad ground??

Hello. To install cruise from a wreck is not possible for the home mechanic. Thre are kits available at most Auto Parts houses. The rust in your radiator is caused by someone using water instead of proper coolant. Buy a flushing kit at your local parts store and use it, following the instructions. You'll not have any more difficulties IF you keep a proper engine coolant in it.

I have a 03 chevy impala with the 3.4l in it with 90,000n when i was checking fluids i noticed brown gunk on the radiator dexcool in it..i then checked the oil fill cap and that

the gunk is chemical and dirt buildup that occurs through the years. if the gunk is really bad i would suggest doing a cooling system flush. it is a fairly simple do-it-yourself procedure and you can buy everything you need at your local walmart, parts store etc.

04 Buick Rendezvous over heated last night. I pipe-wrenched the rad-cap off to find no hole. just inches of brown mud. I assume it is engine rust. this car has never been flushed in 220,000 miles. do

Take it to a radiator specialist or dealer ASAP before you overheat the engine again and do some seriously expensive damage - at the very least you need a radiator flush.

Why does my 2005 impala leak dexcool like crazy, which throws my heat off.

It's either leaking or burning the dexcool due to a bad gasket. Check your oil to make sure the coolant isn't leaking into the oil. If it is STOP driving it and have it towed to a shop. Coolant in your oil can destroy your engine.

What's the brown oil like substance in my surge tank I use dexcool antifreeze

  • Sounds to me like the antifreeze needs flushed. The say it's good for 100,000 miles but my experience is 75,000 miles max. When Dexcool gets old it turns a brownish tinge.

  • Now you want to make sure to pull the oil dip stick and make sure it does not look like chocolate mile. If it does then you have a cracked head or head gasket.

  • This can also be a little dirt/rust in the system. If the oil on the dip stick looks normal the flush your coolant.

  • Thanks for using FixYa

Heating has stoped working and there is a little water in the oil, think radiator may be leaking, does my car just need a new rad

water in the oil will turn the oil brown like mud,is that what you see? if so,then you have a blown head gasket,do not run motor if this is the case as the motor wiil spin a crank bearing or lock up.are you sure about the water in the oil? look for real brown oil just like mud with bubbles on the oil dipstick. if the heats stopped working it may be because the radiator's low on fluid. look in the radiator for low coolant,if you can't see the coolant when you remove the radiator cap,it's low. with engine cool, remove the radiator cap 1st then start the engine. do you see steam and fluid blowing up frome the radiator? if so,you have a blown head gasket in the motor. head gaskets can blow and leak water into the oil or oil into the radiator. or blow and leak into the exhaust sysytem and blow coolant out of the tail pipe. three different ways for a head gasket to blow. usually the head gasket only blows when the engine has been run really hot!!! hope this helps.thank you for choosing fixya .com

1998 blazer blows warm air on heat, sometimes temp.gos up fast to red, had radiator flushed and flushed! looks like brown mud! and chunks think allot of stop leak was added only does this in winter it...

Sorry to hear about your cooling problem,
If it is as nasty in the radiator as you say,you will need to replace radiator. One option is to pull radiaitor and have a radiator shop clean out, but with it being a 98 the tanks will crack as they are plastic so I would recommend replacing. this was a problem on these older models with the dexcool they would get low in coolant and the air is system would turn it to sludge.

It could happen if you have not been changing the oil on a regular basis. If you bought the vehicle used, maybe the previous owner didn't believe in regular oil changes.

Gunky Stuff in radiator

It may not be abnormal but I would take it to a reputable radiator shop to look at just to feel satisfied.
