How do i take out the fuel pump on a 2003 chevy caviler

the fuel pump is located inside of the gas tank, in most cases , the tank will have to be dropped in order to get to the pump, the hose will have to be disconnected and a wire connection, disconnect the metal bands < brackets that hold tank up, > will have to be disconnected in order to lower the tank, once this is done , the round top portion of the tank will have to be removed , normally , you will need a special tool to do this with, it can be purchased at a auto part store, once the top is removed , you will be able to look inside and see the fuel pump, and screen, and etc. it's easier to remove the tank if it is not completely full of gas. before starting this procedure, disconnect the battery cables.

Removal of gas tank and fuel pump

In order to "drop" a gas tank, you should remove a much fuel as possible before beginning. Once empty, jack up the vehicle (making sure it is secure and safe) and then unscrew the two straps used to hang the tank to the vehicle's undercarriage. Once the tank is down, please refer to the attached videos for the actual fuel pump removal and replacment.

Do you have to drop the gas tank in order to change the fuel pump?

The fuel pump is actually inside the gas tank. So unless u want a big hole in your floor board i would disconnect fuel lines and wires to the fuel tank. Remove screws, and ground strap from the filler area. My luck I always have a full tank of gas when the fuel pump decides to go out.. Full tank of gas over your head is not much fun. anyway try to avoid dripping gas, and your ears.... Trust me i know hurts like no other....

Where is the access panel for the fuel pump

There is no access panel for the fuel pump- You have to drop the tank to get at it!

1. Syphon any gas from the tank

2. Prop the gas tank with a support

3. Loosen the tank straps and fill hose strap then disconnect the straps on one side

3. Drop the tank

4. Disconnect the fuel lines and wiring harness

5. Pull the tank from under the vehicle, turn the pump seal counter clockwise then remove the pump- Careful not to damage the O-ring gasket as you may need to use it again because the new gasket may not fit properly

Install in reverse order

Sensors for kia sephia 1994

To remove the Gas tank on a 1994 kia sephia, you would have to remove the back seat. Be careful to unfasten the two clips at the lover part of the seat in order to remove it.

remember to disconnect the battery so you wont have any chances of sparkles while handling the fuel pump.

In this 1994 kia sephia model it is not necessary to drop the fuel tank to service the fuel pump.

Fuel pump

The fuel pump resides inside the gas tank. You need to drop the tank and upen up the top to remove the pump. The car will need to be elevated in order to have enough room to remove the tank. Be careful as any spark created will be bad!
