Any mechanic will need the engine codes. The engine light is the indicator that the cars computer is throwing a code. this code can be read by a special scan tool. Most autoparts stores will read this code for free.

How long has it been since you replaced the Air Filter. Suspect the engine is not getting enough air at high throttle position.

When your engine light flashes a you the computer is telling you that you have a hard, cosistant miss fire (one of the cylinders is not firing) you need to get the codes read to find out what cylinder it is then go from there.

Car has loss of power and the check engine light blinks

The check engine light will blink if there is a serious problem that could damage the catalytic converter. The loss of power could be multiple things such as a misfire or maybe even a catalytic converter that has failed and is clogging the exhaust. Have it scanned to see what the codes are and go from there.

Number 6 is in the front on the driver's side. I would swap the coil and wire with another to see if the problem moves with the coil. If yes, replace coil. If no, check plug and run a compression test (to check for burned valve or head gasket leak). Please let me know if you have any other questions.
