  1. drain coolant. from block at least below STAT
  2. see large rad hose, one goes directly to StAT
  3. UNbolt the housing, CCW (RHT) turn left
  4. stat falls out
  5. is this far enough>
  6. put new one in, not backwards,m and bleed hole up hill
  7. rev. above with new gaskets.
  8. refill

Need to know where the thermostat is located in a 1999 concrde 3.2L


i just changed my t stat yesterday.. pain in my ***! the 3.2 t stat is located where the lower radiator hose meets the engine block. you will need to remove the alternater to get to it. gl

How to change the thermostat on a 97 acura rl


I just changed a t-stat in a 96 last night. The location is in an "abnormal" location from normal domestic cars. The t-stat is at the engine block end of the lower radiator house. Follow it from the radiator up to the engine block. The one on my car the housing and the T-stat is located behind the throttle bottom. If you are not some what mechanically inclined stop reading this right now and head to a mechanic. If you choose to replace it yourself you have to remove the all covers (your intake and throttle cable cover). You will also have to remove any vaccum houses that are atteched to the air intake and throttle body assymbly. You'll have to remove your air intake house and the "sleeve" that is atteched to the air intake hose and the throttle body air intake opening. You'll also have to remove the cables from the flap control (engage them by pulling back the sprung rocker and removing the cable head through the slot that locks it into the rocker lever). Once both cables have been removed you'll have to remove the cable plate from the throttle body. Now you'll have to remove the throttle body itself from the intake. That is done by removing the four bolts securing it. (If you do not have a torque rench, borrow one and get the specs from your local automotive store). There is a gasket that needs to be replaced between the throttle body and the intake. Once that is all out of the way you'll see the T-stat covering, remove it and expose your therostat. When you remove the T-stat pay attention to the position of the T-stat. Put the O ring on the new T-stat and reverse above prossess in order to properly rebuild the throttle assembly. Be sure to regasket the throttle body and torque the four bolts to specs, also make sure you tighten in a cross pattern to prevent any warping or carcking. AGAIN

95 ford f-150 overheated. thought it was the thermodtat. changed the thermostat but is now leaking coolant from bottom of housing?


THE T STAT FELL DOWN WHEN YOU WHER EINSTALLING THE HOUSING TAKE IT APART AND GET A PIECE OF STRING AND PUT IT THOUGH THE T STAT AND OUT THE HOUSING TAKE A DRILL BIT OR ANYTHING AND TIE THE STRING TO IT TO HOLD THE T STAT TO THE HOUSING AND PUT IT ON

Is there a sensor that controls the opening and clsing of thermostat of 1995 acura legend? i just replaced thermostat and coolant is still backing into overflow after running for a while


The thermostat is a self-contained unit.

I had a problem on an Aries K with a bright shiny new thermostat. Still badly overheated on waiting for the 1st opening of the t-stat. Turns out there was steam in the housing on the hot side of the t-stat, which could not heat the t-stat as well as the cold water on the radiator side could cool it.

Check to see whether the top radiator hose is warm-to-hot while the reservoir is getting filled. If the hose stays cold, the t-stat is not opening. If that is the case, you might be having a steam bubble behind the t-stat. Drilling a small hole (maybe 3/32") in the main flat part of the t-stat, and installing it so that that hole is as high as possible will probably be a fix.

As soon as the upper hose gets hoat, fell the front surface of the radiator to see whether there are hot and cold parts. If there is a lot of difference, you might have some blocked tubes.

Make sure the bottom hose is not collapsing.

Some arrangements really rely on flow through the heater core to create the circulation that brings hot water to the thermostat when it has not yet opened. Without that flow, the water around the combustion chambers and cylinders can overheat due to the lack of circulation. Feeling the temperature of the heater hoses while the engine is first warming up can confirm whether you have sufficient flow there.

Have a major problem while replacing thermostat


If you have not yet removed the T Stat and its housing, chances are the nut is sitting right inside there somewhere.

Actually, if the nut has gone inside the coolant passages it should not present an issue as gravity will pull it down to the lowest area of the motor.

It should pretty much stay there. I would not go too crazy trying to get it out, but if you can it would be better to do that.

are you sure that you put the t stat in the right way??is there anything blocking the rad mud ect ect???did you put more coolant in it after changeing the t stat?...is the water pump working proper?...the head gasket may be leaking..this should help solve your issues
