Try turning the key over to the start position. then take a long screwdriver and touch it across the terminals on the starter. this should start your vehicle. if the sarter doesnt turn when you do this, then you have the starter locked up,and yo will have to take it off and install some shims under the bolts.if the starter is trying to turn and the lywheel isnt urning...then you have a locked up engine.

I would check the neutral safety switch on the transmission. Also the ignition switch, starter relay and ignition or crank fuse.

Won't crank

I own a 1999 chevy blazer and mine had the same problem. All the lights and everything had power, the battery and starter were brand new but it still wouldn't crank. What I had found was that the thin positive wire that is going to the solenoid of the starter looked ok but was corroted and broken on the inside of the insulation due to oil leaking onto it. I had to break it off, strip back the insulation on both ends, put heat shrink tubing onto it and solder the two ends back together. It has been working fine ever since. Double check yours and see if you have +12 Volts to that wire when the key is in crank position. You can also try to jump the solenoid and see if you can get it to crank.

Possibly the switch at the bottom of the steering column, that the rod pulls on. May be loose, or worn out.

1999 chevy blazer has trouble starting from a cold crank

If your engine is cranking really strong make sure you have proper engine timing. If your engine is having a hard time cranking like its cranking really slow. You probably need to check your battery.

1999 Chevy Blazer 4WD wont start

Sounds like the bendix is stuck in the starter. When this happens, the starter energizes and turns, but the gear does not kick out to make contact with the flywheel. Have someone tap on the starter while cranking the engine.

1999 Chevy Blazer Starter

the starter is located on the passenger side lower motor. it has two bolts in it that hold it in place. it actually goes through a hole/slot in the transmission to the flex plate.

1st. disconnect the negative cable on the battery.
2nd. raise the vehicle safely and place a jack stand under the vehicle out of your way but near where you will be working(for safety).
3rd. remove the two bolts that hold the starter in place.
4th. remove the wires from the back of the starter.
5th. install in reverse order of above.

note: there may be little plates between the starter and the mounting points called shims. if there are then make sure you put them back.
