If at all possible, use Honda steering fluid sold at the dealership. It's also good maintenance to replace the fluid at 60k maintenance intervals.

V70xc 1999. steering was making a moaning sound and it was getting progressively hard to turn. Obviously a leak. Return hose was replaced by indy mechanic with part from Volvo dealer for about $500 parts...

Is it truly a leak? If you are missing that much power steering fluid you would have to have power steering fluid on the floor. In my '98 I was able to use the Dexron type transmission fluid in the power steering. Assuming there is power steering fluid in there - turning the steering wheel from chock to chock several times to get the air out of the system. Let us know that you find.

Steering slipping honda drv 1999

1. check rack & pinion for center wear from internal fluid leaking around the rack piston. 2. look for broken or loose Steering Stabilizer Bracket. 3. Mismatched Tires or Wheels. 4. Broken or Weak Coil Springs. 5. Badly Worn or Broken Shock/Strut. Hope this helps you solve your problem. BTW, you meant Honda CR-V right?

Vibration encountered on a 98 Honda CR-V only occurs when steering wheel turned to max left or right....or when making 90 degree turns.

1999 windstar power steering makes buzzing noise when warming up.

drain all power steering fluid and replace with dextronIII/mercon transmission fluid start the vehicle and turn the wheel back and forth from lock to lock bouncing the wheel against the lock about 5 times on each turn for about 5 minutes
if this doesnt work you are probablygoing to need a new power steering pump

I'm hearing a very loud sound from my 1999 gram am gt also,

If it's a power steering pump low on fluid, it will buzz real loud and worse when you turn the steering wheel left or right.

Fill with power steering fluid. Look in owners manual for type of fluid.

when fluid is added, turn stering wheel full left and full right to purge trapped air.

If this does not fix, you may have a bad pump.

Please rate as fixya if ths solves your issue.

Rpeort back on rsults and good luck.

Steering Wheel noise on cold start

this is either a loose belt, or low power steering fluid. Remember that Honda uses a diffrent power steering fluid from everyone else. Make sure it is a Honda compatable fluid, or you will get leaks.
