Question about 1983 Dodge Pickup

1 Answer

I have a 1977 Dodge. Model # M500, removing inner dually tire

I have a 1977 Dodge. Model # M500, Max GVW 14,500lbs. It has a differential dually rear end. It's a five lugs(1.5 inch lugs). When I remove the outer lugs, I can remove the outer rim. But I can't seem to get the inner tire to release. My question is: 1). Are the studs pressed in? So the inner tire should slide off like the outer tire? Or 2). The studs are screwed in. So the studs need to be removed to remove the inner tire? If so, are they left or right handed threads? I don't want to apply excessive amounts of pressure, and possibly break something without knowing what type of fasteners I'm dealing with?

How do I remove the spindle axle on a 2001 dodge ram 1500 2wd? And what is the name of it exactly?

The spindle is what holds the front tires on. The axle is what holds the rear tires on. To remove the spindle, you have to remove the brake caliper first the remove the ball joint nuts. hit the spindle were the ball joints go in. The shock will release the ball joints. To remove the axles, you have to remove the differential plate, spin the differential until you see the bolt that locks the center pin in. remove both. push in the axle and remove the C clip. pull the axle out.

Where is the rear windshield washer motor and how do I get to it to replace it?

The pump is located on the lower back side of the washer reservoir. To access, you need to remove the inner fender guard of the passenger side front. Remove the screws for the guard, the bottom of the reservoir is in front of the tire. There are two pumps, one for the front washer and one for the rear. Replace the faulty one. This job should take approximately 20 minutes, max.

Hello, the rear axel seal on my Dodge Ram Dually

is not that bad just take the tires off then take the diff cover off take the drum or disc off on some truck there is four bolts on the end of the axle tube that you have to remove to get the axle out. but, if you look insider the diff and see two clips that look like a c ust take the bar that runs threw the middle of the diff and holds the spider gears inplace and keeps the axle from moving back and forth out and push the axles in and remove the clips then pull the axle out and rip the sear out and install the new one.

How do you change a wheel seal on a mercury mountaneer 1998 rear end

Axle Vent
NOTE: If the vent cannot be cleared, it must be installed new.
A plugged vent will cause excessive seal lip wear due to internal pressure buildup. If a leak occurs, check the vent. Make sure the vent hose is not kinked. Remove the hose from the vent nipple and clear the hose of any foreign material. While the hose is removed, pass a length of mechanics wire or a small diameter Allen wrench in and out of the vent to clean it. Connect the hose when done. The vent is located on the drivers side top of axle housing.
If you plan on doing most repairs yourself I would suggest buying a Haynes or Chilton manual for your particular vehicle. Or there are some data disks on e.bay($12-$15) For a cost of under $25, you can almost do any repair yourself with these manuals. Also there are online manuals like the site called ALLDATA where guides can be viewed for a fee. All these solutions will save you time and money, and give peace of mind over correct repairs. I can post you some procedures here also.
