Question about 1999 Ford Explorer
1999 Explorer Sport(2-door) 4x4 with 4.0 SOHC V6. I put in new spark plugs and it ran smoother, but next day the engine seems like it is going to die. It is misfiring and almost stalling. This happens at idle and all speeds. What do you think could be the problem? No check engine light comes on. Also, is it necessary to have platinum plugs?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

On the passenger side of the intake manifold, coming off the bottom
about the center of the engine front to back, you'll feel a hose that
comes off a nipple. That hose makes a 90 degree bend and goes around to
the rear of the motor. Where that hose meets the Y-connector from the
other side of the intake you'll find the PCV valve. It's almost
impossible to see it with the hood installed, and even tougher to reach

The intake manifold gaskets need replacement as well as the o-rings inside - if you call FORD they should be able to get you the correct parts.

Sounds like you have some EGR ports clogged up, remove the intake and look at the egr ports all but
#1 cyl port will probably be at least partially clogged, hope this helps

your transmission part number for a motocraft rebuilt trans would be TRM1341, as far as they list it the transmission was only for that year, meaning you would need to find another 1998 explorer or 1998 mercury mountaineer in order to replace your trans. hope this helps :)
