This sound strongly like the fuel pump/relay. If the relay gets hot, it shuts down and the fuel pump shuts off. If the pump was beginning to overheat and shut down it would act the same. The system would show no codes and the system would have to cool down before starting up. If you are talking about the California desert, thats would **** trying to get down the 15s with a vehicle shutting off and a trailer behind you. Thr system should be checked for fuel pressure with a gauge hooked to the system and allowed to run until the system shuts off and check for 0 pressure on the gauge. If this does occur, replace the pump and relay. Let me know what else I can do.

The fuel filter is on the frame of the truck on the driver's side. No real tricks to replacing. Once it is off though you will want to blow through it. If you cheeks puff or there is real high resistance , than it was time to replace anyways. The filters are about $8-15. For the filter, the tank needs to be dropped and the pump runs about just less than $300 and the relay is about $15. The relay is under the hood in the power distrbution box on the driver's side.

Have you hooked it up to an OBD scanner?
Even if the light is not illuminated - it may have recorded an event, the bulb may be out, or removed.

Since it was being stressed in the heat - there may be a few issues present.
CTS (Coolant Temp Sensor) may have been acting up - and the engine shutting down to protect itself.
Was the engine overheating?
Were there any other strange things happening?

Is the vehicle still giving problems?

If not - chalk it up to the high stress towing in the desert. If yes - we can continue to troubleshoot.

Thanks!!

How do I prepare my Chevy Tahoe to pulll a travel trailer

Tow package Reece hitch with the right size ball, electric brakes with trailer wiring. Sway bar\'s stops trailer from swaying back & forth. The most important is to find out the tongue weight on trailer. If it\'s more than your Tahoe can handle you will need to put air bag\'s on your rear suspension to help support the weight. You will also need to check the tire load rating on your Tahoe\'s rear tires. You don\'t want a blow out going down the road! Goose neck trailer won\'t work period! Good luck!

After highway driving for 2 hours and stopping for gas the car would initially start and then stall, it would run again until the car cooled for 30 minutes.

Sounds like your coolant level might be low. At highway speed you probably have enough coolant and with the air passing thru the radiator keeps the temp down, but at idle not so much. Or depending whether you have a belt drive or electric fan. Belt driven, could need a new belt.

1994 Cadillac deville starting problems

As with any no start issue, someone will need to check for spark at the plugs and fuel pressure at the injectors to proceed.
Could be a relay or the fuel pump, or a long list of things.

Stalled 2 blks from home. Engine turns over, but won't fire. Towed home, but next it starts. Drive it 3 miles and same thing again. 3 hours later we go back to tow it home, and it starts right up, but...

check the filter! first! it is possible its stopped up! when taking the filter lose start at the rear line and check to see how much pressure comes out? if its little to no! pressure then the fuel pump is weak!

Shuddering/jerking on highway, pull over, wont start for 30 mins

Last time I had that happen in a car everything blew. I found out the root of the problem was my timing chain, but I can tell you, you don't want to wait to get that checked out in any case or you will end up with a lot more problems.
