Where is low side port for recharging a/c. on my 1997 s10. I found 2 ports one on the accumulator and one on the tube, however my charging kit port only fit the port on the accumulator. I assume this port is the high side port and not the correct one. The recharge kit port does not fit the port on the tubing line.

The port on the accumulator is the low side. The high side port is smaller than the low side. The low side port is the one that gets cold when the compressor is running.

Verify ambient temperature is above 65 degrees F.

1. Safety> - safety glasses, long sleeves and gloves, (exposure to refrigerant can cause frostbite).

2. Attach hoses to manifold> assembly, (hi, lo, and fill).

3. Remove caps from service ports, (Low press. Larger tube from evaporator to accumulator - passenger side over fender well; High Pressure - smaller tube from evaporator along firewall towards driver's side). Verify service> ports are clean.

4. Attach low press. and high press hoses to proper service ports.

5. Start car>, reset low refrig code, and turn ac on high and fan on high.

6. Read gauges and compare with chart provided with gauge set.

7. If low and high press readings are both low, then system needs recharge.

8. To recharge, attach fill hose to can of R134a and slowly open low press valve>, (NOT HIGH PRESS VALVE), until low press side reads 40 psi.

9. When flow stops and pressures stabilize close valves> and disconnect manifold from service ports and refrigerant can. Replace service port caps.

Which is the low port on 2000 Chevy s10 trying to recharge ac

I'd suggest to completely remove AB from the car, re-charge it then put back. In this way your car' electrical/electronics systems will be protected from any hazard that can be caused by improper charging.

Can''t find a/c high pressure port 1989 bonneville 3.8v6

You don't charge with the hi side port. Use the low side on the accumulator. The hi side port is on the compressor if you want to connect a maniflod gauge set to it.

Location of low pressure port 1996 pontiac firebird

Hello,
The low pressure port for charging the A/C system is located on the larger aluminum tube coming from the A/C compressor. It is usually located in the tube line near the accumulator. That is an alumninum cylinder about the size of a soda can or slightly larger usually located close to the firewall along the left fender side well. It will have a plastic screw on cap on it, usually stamped with an "L" on top. Your recharge hose will only connect to the low pressure side, the high pressure port is a different size valve for safety reasons. You can only get an accurate pressure reading with the engine running and A/C running at max cold. blower on high speed, after about 5 minutes of A/C operation. Temperature outside will also have an effect on the pressure reading, optimum ambient air temperature of 70-80 degrees farenheit. Directions for recharge are on your R134a refill kit, but the system does require 20-30 PSI for the compressor to kick on. If your compressor is engaging while you are refilling, you can probably do it successfully. If your pressure is extremely low and compressor does not kick on, you most likely have a leak in the system which will have to be found and fixed before you can charge the system......Mike

Where, exactly, IS the low line port for recharging the AC on my 2003 Chevy Malibu? OR is the coupler that came with the recharge kit the wrong size? I've assumed that most AC units have a standard...

You found the high side port. The other line should have the low side and if it is not on there it might be at the AC evaporator which is a cylinder shape made of aluminum. The cap will have a L on it not a H. Do not force it on the high side.

Where can I find the low port to recharge my AC on my 2000 chevy blazer

The low pressure port on an AC system is between the evaporator and the compressor. The evaporator is the cooling coil in the dash. I believe you will find an accumulator just on the "out" side of the evaporator. The accumulator is a round aluminum container about 4 in. in diameter and about 7 in tall. It has a tube from the evaporator going in near the top, a tube/hose going from the accum. to the compressor and probably a pressure switch and a charging port. All these items are located around the top of the accumulator. That charging port is the low pressure, (suction side of the compressor). Don't over charge. Use just enough to get cold air from the system. I doubt this system has a sight glass in the tube near the condensor, but if it does, put in just enough refrigerant to where you no longer see bubles going past the sight glass. If this is a cronic leak, you must have the leak repaired. It is aginst the law to recharge AC systems without repairing the leak.

Thanks for using FixYa. Good luck.
