Question about 2001 Pontiac Aztek
Rear lift gate won,t unlock on my 2001 pontiac aztek .split window wont release open ( with remotes, interior car hatch ,and keys tried all ) to allow me acess to hatch area fuse ok remotes workok for other door locks and unlocks .
The electrical problem you experiencing can cause by three areas.
A failing, defective or un-seated relay is the most common cause of this problem.
I enclosed a picture of the accessory relay below.
Please locate this relay and inspect it for damage.
This relay can be un-seated from its socket but pull it out of the socket.
Check the pins for burn mark or corrosion.
Re-sit the relay on the female socket and test the rear hatch locking system.
If you has an after market hatch opening system then the relay will look a little different.
Your relay may has total of 5 pins.
Bad ground, wiring and fuse-able link are the 2nd most common problem.
Push the rear hatch inward and try to pop split window again.
There is a safety/sensor on the door and it will not operate unless it has a positive contact from the sensor switch.
The last problem can be a damaged button on the remote control.
Press the unlock hatch and see is the LED indicator light light up.
Test to unlock the hatch with the second/spare remote key fob.
Please reply to me via email when you finish checking the relay.

Common problem on those is one of the linkage arms fall off because it
needs a new retaining clip, the fun is try to open the door, some have a
small door or panel. If you remove it you can re-hook linkage or use
screw driver to push latch release lever to open gate.
Also, its possible that ypu can find in your delaer this literature about TSB:
* TSB #000864013 -- SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE REAR LIFT GATE WILL NOT COME OFF THE SECONDARY LATCH POSITION WHEN OPENED AUTOMATICALLY ON 2001 PONTIAC AZTEK MODEL VEHICLES. *TT (NHTSA ID #616361, OCTOBER 01 2000)
* TSB #3825 -- TAILGATE WILL NOT UNLOCK. *TT (NHTSA ID #10019175, no date provided)
Hope this helps.
