Question about 2007 Chrysler 300c AWD Sedan New Cars

2 Answers

There are chrome rims on the car I bought about 4 years ago. I took the car in to discount tire because one of the tires continue to go flat on a weekly basis. I was told that the rims got wet inside which case the peeling and bubbling and that I could have them sanded down but it would cost about the same to just buy new rims. The rims on the car are not stock rims and cost between $300 - $400 each. I live in New Mexico so I can't believe that the inside of the rims if they did get wet were wet long enough to cause peeling and bubbling? Help! What should I do? Does the peeling and bubbling sound right?

Suggest using nitrogen in your tires instead of compressed air usually available at tire retailers.

Moisture in a mounted tire will rust a steel rim from the inside out with chrome it gets under the chrome plating and attacks the steel rim which peels, flakes and bubbles the chrome off if it hasnt damaged the outside of rim[meaning re chrome or replace rim] and only at rim lip u can sand lip till smooth and theirs a brown sealer that almost every tire place use and can be put on tire lip which seals stopping any rim lip leak this stuff is use for problems like yours imperfections on rims---doesnt matter where u live the moisture has nowhere to go they will have the moisture in there

The rims of the tires continue to bend and slash the tires. All four. This car has been a death trap. Any ideas of what the problem is. Has there been a recall?

Wow, this is an unusual problem. What year? Factory wheels or aftermarket? Tire size? Are the tires losing air pressure so that the rims are 'slashing the tires?' Are the rims cutting through the side walls of the tires? How many or the tires did this happen to and how many times??

I recommend taking your vehicle to a shop (any shop) that use a Hunter tire balancer. These machines can detect all variables that affect ride quality by not only spinning the rim, but it uses a roller to inspect the tire itself for its "road force". They can also measure the rim while on the machine for run-out to detect for a bent rim. There can be times when a tire can be mounted to the wheel in a postion that promotes more vibration, but the hunter machines can check and show the correct location to minimize the feel to the driver. Here is a picture of the kind of balancer you want your vehicle serviced at. Please let me know how things work out.7e27679.jpg

Tires mounted on Chrysler Chrome Rime go flat when cold

it is most likely the valve stems. take off the caps and spray some soapy water in them and around the base. if there is a leak you will see bubbles.

Tire pressure light remains on.

We took it back to the dealer. They made the necessary adjustments needed after the winter tires +rims were put on.

Unfortunately that's the way of the beast, they keep it that way to offset the cost of their warranty work. I'm sure if you raise a big enough stink with the head salesperson you'll get a discount or a oil change coupon but don't expect much from the dealerships because they are there to make money
