SOURCE: power steering fluid on grand prix

You should add it to the power steering pump reservoir, which if you have the 3800 series II its behind the engine on the passenger side.

SOURCE: where do i add power steering fluid?

The resevoir is mounted directly on the pump, which is directly below the alternator. You can see it if you look closely below the alternator. You will see the resevoir cap, it is a little tight to get to, and to fill it you will probably need a funnel.

SOURCE: adding transmission fluid to a 2002 pontiac grand prix se

I am not sure which engine you have on your 202 Grand Prix, but if you have the most common 3800 V6 this is where it should be. Look at the back of the engine compartment just to the left of the plastic master cylinder resevoir.

SOURCE: power steering

the power steering pump is mounted on the front of the motor, the pump has a lid which you unscrew to add fluid. if you cant find the pump follow the serpentine belt until it goes around the pump (large Pulley) with about a four or so inch long neck. Make sure you buy the fluid made for your vehicle.

SOURCE: where do i put transmission fluid in my 2006 Saturn Vue?

If you have no leaks dont worry about it. Just get it serviced if its time. Alot of cars are this way now. You need to be under the car to drain and fill. My BMW is this way

My transmission fluid in my 06 Grand Prix gxp got to 220 is that bad

That's high, but not terribly so. Transmissions typically run about 180, but on my Silverado the trans temp gauge doesn't show red until 250. Smell the trans fluid, if it doesn't smell burned, it should be ok. If unsure, change the fluid. I don't recommend a power flush, just drain the pan, change filter, measure what was in the pan, add that amount of new fluid and of course, correct why it got that hot in the first place.

My 2006 pontaic grand prix begins to shift very hard after a long drive (over 50miles) What could be the problem. I checked the fluid and it appears to be clean and full.

It sounds like the coils on your TCC (Torque Converter Lock-up) are starting to wear out. The TCC solenoid is a common problem with the GM Transmissions. They normally start to show signs of wear around 75,000 miles but I have seen them go bad as soon as 32,000 in high temperature areas.

One of the best things you can do with your Transmission is to add an External Transmission cooler. This will extend the life of your transmission by YEARS,,,

Hi and welcome to FixYa!
The automatic transmission fluid really needs to be replaced for it to go back in it's normal operation. It's not major don't worry.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

2003 pontiac grand prix 3.8...the car hard shifts at take off and jerks from 1st - 2nd

If you have an Automatic transmission, you are out of transmission fluid. Check the fluid by viewing the dipstick nearest the engine firewall, and if it is low, add one quart at a time. Do not overfill, or you will blow a gasket and have a bigger problem. You may also need to replace your transmission, if problem reoccurs. To see if your transmission is leaking, park for about an hour, on any flat concrete surface and look for red fluid spills.
