Question about Hyundai Motor 2004 Sonata

1 Answer

2004 Sonata base model. It recently was doing dome wierd things. While running it would loose power and lurch and the RMP guage went haywire. I replaced the spark plugs and wires which seemed to help for a couple of days then it went back to it's tricks. I have ordered 2 ignition coils to replace. Today I started it up and the idel is TERRIBLE and no power. AFter I replace the ignition coils and that does not solve the problem; What should I be looking at next as the culprit for these symptoms. HELP!

If the check engine/ service engine soon light is on have the codes pulled for a more accurate troubleshooting. autozone and advance does i for free. Its hard to say what it is you could theoretically spend alot of money without starting with the check engine code.

While driving my 2004 ford explorer it is starting to make a wierd sound and have a wierd feel. and starts driving toward right direction unless i grab steering wheel. does anyone know what this problem...

It can be several things. With the problem only occuring when power is applied you must have a problem with the Right Hub engaging when it should be off. Or depending on your 4 wheel settings the Left Hub is not locking when it should match the Right.

The rear suspension can also be the problem. There are Rubber bushings in the Rear suspension arms. If there is looseness or travel in the joints the rear axle can shift under Power. This will allow the rear wheels to run crooked. This will make the front end of your Explorer turn to one side. On some models the rear wheels can be aligned and have Shims in them. Sometimes the shims can fall out causing the axle to pitch to one side.

There are many things turning in the frontend. But most will pull all of the time if they are failing. The problem you describe limits the possibilities to the parts I have mentioned. Good Luck on your repair.

Transmission question. Now i know that it is damaging to an automatic transmission to put it in another gear while the car is moving, but I was wondering, in my 2009 CRV there is about a second delay when...

Your best bet is to keep your foot on the brake until it goes into gear. It does take a "second" for everything to work in the transmission, but if it is more, with it being a 2006, the factory warranty should still be good. I would have a Hyundai Dealer check the transmission, it may need a transmission service. I don't think you would hurt anything.

Power windows dont work and dome light stays on

It has to be a broken wire! Initially, I lost the door locks & power to the windows ONLY when the drivers door was open. When I closed the door, the problem went away. Finally, I had the problem all the time. I checked for 12 vdc at the switch in the drivers door and there was NO POWER. In the rubber boot (between the car & door) I found the grey wire (with a pink stripe) was broken internally but the INSULATION WAS NOT!!!
