Question about 2003 Volkswagen Eurovan

1 Answer

Our 2003 Eurovan sliding door is not shutting. It doesn't seem to be the latch, anything else that could be going on?

I had the same issue, It happens occasionally, twice a year. I put some silicone lubricant on the locking mechanism on the door and that solved the problem.

You are far from alone. Lube helps some people for a little while, but most seem to find the problem returns, sooner than it ought to.

Try lubricating the door latch in the door. You can also use a screwdriver to see if you can get the mechanism to move freely.

The van was hit on the back passenger side resulting in a dent . The open door light along with the interior lights flashed when I hit a bump. I hear something that sounds like a fan continuosly blowing....

I think this may be the "closer" motor continuously trying to gain a positive latch--and unable to do so. This could be from a damaged latch switch.

The sliding door has three motors, a slide motor, a release (or unlatch) motor, and a closer (or latching) motor. The open door light and interior lights coming on seem to indicate that the "closed and latched" switch is sometimes open-- allowing the closer motor to continue to operate.

Another possibility is that the dent has changed the geometry of the door mechanism especially the draw of the pull cable. The slide motor has a sensor that pulses when it runs. The door management controller counts the number of pulses of the slide motor sensor to determine when the door is fully closed and then stops the slide motor. At that point, the closer motor operates to latch the door. If the cable geometry has changed, the door controller may be shutting off the slide motor prematurely and the closer motor cannot complete the latch.

Where is the door switch on a dodge durango

Sorry Their are two different types. One is located in the jam of the door, in the body of the car not the door. it is a little black spring loaded button that pushes in when the door is shut. If it doesn't have that style then it is part of the door latch. You can take a screw driver and slide it in the latch to move the jaw on the latch their are two clicks until the latch is completely latched. try that and see if it says anything. Before you start this go arround and make sure all door are shut all the way including hatch. Then check owners manual and see if their is a switch on the dash that controls the interior lighting make sure it is in the off or door only position. There is usualy on off and door.

The automatic sliding door leaks, rattles, and doesn't always shut all the way. Have to give it a little exterior ''hip action'' to get the rear of the door to latch shut. Also sometimes it mysteriously...

i had an aerostar with the same proble, easy fix........there is a catch just inside the rear part of the car where the door closes, it needs adjusting, its about half way up, you can see it if you open the door fully, look just inside the door space , where the door fits into place....you will see 3 hex screws, there is also an adjustment catch on the door itself

2003 VW Jetta trunk does not open

most likely cause is latch cover plastic has broken and got lodged in the latch mechanism. now the fun part, fold down back seat , slide into trunk with a phillips screwdriver a flashlight and a large strait blade screwdriver, once in trunk remove trunk cover, then with strait blade unlatch the trunk. once lid is open remove latch and take out broken plastic to free up latch and reinstall then retest before closing trunk.

The power sliding passenger door will not open even manually. At first it didn't want to close, but after I slammed it shut it didn't want to open. A few days later I was trying to get the door panel off...

I think you have a latch issue or a latch release issue, pull the door panel and try and release the door latch, pull the latch and try to see what if anything is wrong with it, also make sure the linkage going to the latch from the release handle is hooked up or not otherwise damaged.
