My 2001 Lexus rx300 acted like it was in neutral all of a sudden. What is the chance I will have to replace the transmission? Could it be the transmission fluid needs flushing?

always treat auto replacement as an absolute last resort
There is a servo/solenoid controlled torque converter clutch that connects the converter up and they do fail from electronic or wiring problems (indicated by the sudden loss of drive)
run the fault codes first to detect such a problem
if the transmission oil has not been changed in the last 60,000klms then that will only help if it is done soon
Take it into an accredited auto transmission specialist shop for a proper diagnosis and a quote
I suspect that you will find it is the clutch control ( servo/solenoid or TCM unit ) and that the cost to fix will be considerable cheaper than a new transmission

1993 lexus ES300 will not go when in drive

sounds like you have a major transmission problem. expect a big repair bill sorry!! if they deem the transmission to be shot, look online for a used or remanufactured transmission and see if it would be cheaper to replace than repair. I have a 1995 jaguar that would go in reverse but not in drive, cost to repair: $2700 cost for used transmission: $1000 and i put it in myself. had i not it probably would have been $1500-1700 but thats still a big savings. good luck and again sorry!

I own 1999 lexus es 300 and the transmission is not changing from 3th to 4th gear even if i got over 4000 rpms... 'o/d' its not working when im driving 50mph i wonna go down 1 shift im turning off...

Hi sorry to tell you but it is NOT a switch :(
What it maybe though is the "Bands" sounds like they are slipping, they simply may just need tightening, this is NOT a task that one can DIY. if it is this it isn't too expensive a fix either.
You will/should take the car into a place that specialises in the Lexus model. then ask ONLY for a "Quote' as to costings and what needs to be done, get appraised of it all, and go from there.

My lexus 95 es 300 slips in drive an.has on power

time for a new or rebuilt transmission. this is done at a transmission shop. on a car that old you better stay with a rebuilt as a new one will cost more than the car is worth.

Lexus rx300 2002 hard shift between 1st and 2nd. Fluid and filter changed 3000mi ago, car has 93000mi

The 1999-2003 Lexus RX300 models have a common failure of the engine computer that causes the harsh shifting of the transmission. You need to get the computer (ECM - Engine Control Module) rebuilt or replaced before it causes permanent damage to the transmission. Even if the transmission is already ruined, the ECM will still need to be repaired. Most often, the transmission is fine though, and rebuilding the ECM will restore the smooth shifts that the Lexus should have. Circuit Board Medics can rebuild the ECM and reprogram it so that you only have to plug it back in when you get it back. See the link below:

I have an 03 Lexus LS430 with 64K miles. Trans is

The weakest link is on the transmission pan gasket.

You have to buy the transmission service kit.

The kit has the pan gasket and the transmission filter.

My cost is only $38........dealer is a lot more.

Use Amsoil Synthetic ATF if possible. It will help increase the service life of the transmission

HOW MANY LITERS OIL NEEDS LEXUS RX300 2001?

You need 5 quarts in the Lexus RX300. Beware, the RX300 has a history of engine sludge problems (just search the internet for Toyota engine sludge). I would recommend Mobil 1 (this is FULL synthetic) and for viscosity I would recommend 5w-30 in the winter and 10w-30 in the summer. Your manual will verify the viscosity that I have mentioned. You must use good engine oil with this vehicle or else you will have an engine sludge problem and this could cost you a new engine. The RX300 is a wonderful vehicle and very reliable, but it requires some care that you must give it or else it will cost you a lot of money and maybe leave you stranded. For instance, change the oil regularly (no more than 4000 mile intervals) and also change the transmission fluid (no more than 60000 mile intervals). Search online for transmission failures in the RX300 - you'll find that the people who did not get a transmission flush were very sorry!!

Transmission seems like car is missing

I'm going to assume that the shop diagnosis is correct. To do virtually any transmission repair except minor seal changes and filter changes, the unit must be removed and torn apart. This is because all internal components are basically strung together on the mainshaft (picture a bunch of doughnuts on a broomstick). Therefore since the "broomstick" can only be removed from the front of the unit, that's all they can do. Many shops do not have an in-house transmission expert. It is more reliable for them to use a "certa" unit which is a factory rebuild, rather than needing to rely on local shops for this work.
Therefore, even if your problem is small, it still takes a complete teardown to repair it...better to just put in a different one. If you doubt the diagnosis, have an independent shop verify the dealers findings.!!
Good luck
