Question about 2001 Toyota Sequoia

I have an oil pressure switch that is inoperative. I have changed out the oil pressure switch but still no luck in getting the gauge to work. What can I do?

Is there a fuse that works the oil pressure gauge and the battery gauge for a 2005 chevy trailblazer


NO , there is not a fuse just for those two thing's ! There are two power supply's for the whole insturment cluster . You could need a new cluster or the ECM isn't sending this info. to the cluster . Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the PCM or the insturment cluster . Without knowing how this works (insturment cluster gets it's info.) Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop that has the knowledge and test equipment to diagnose this problem.
Engine Oil Pressure Gage
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the engine oil pressure as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The IPC receives a serial data message from the ECM indicating the engine oil pressure. The engine oil pressure gage defaults to 0 psi (0 kPa) or below if:
• The ECM detects a malfunction in the engine oil pressure sensor circuit.
• The IPC detects a loss of serial data communications with the ECM.
For the 4.2L LL8, the ECM uses an engine oil switch that is open when the oil pressure is normal and closed when the oil pressure is low. At normal pressure, the engine oil pressure gage will display 275 kPa (40 psi). At low pressure, the gage will go to 0 kPa and the low pressure warning will be displayed in the driver information center (DIC). At high pressure, the gage will display 551 kPa (80 psi). Any values between these three values are calculated values determined by the ECM.

Voltmeter
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the vehicle voltage based on the information from the body control module (BCM). The IPC uses the serial data information from the BCM to provide a voltage level indication on the voltmeter.

Does the volt gauge move up and down when commanded?

Had my oil changed two days ago now its showing high oil pressure


You have to make sure the right oil & right amount of oil is in the motor. If so, there is an oil pump, oil pressure switch which controls the gauge & the gauge itself. 1st get the PSI ckd & the pressure switch. If it doesn't lead to a deeper internal engine problem. The pressure switch is the most common problem but it may be any of the above. Good luck

Oil pressure at 0 on 2005 trailblazer


It sure sounds like the oil sending unit is at fault,now sometimes,not always,the oil sending unit will seep oil or leak oil if they go bad,but like I said,not always,change the unit,and the oil and filter just for precaution.

Oil preassure indicator blinking on minimun RPM engine, reading is almot 0, if press throtle will stop blinking


Get a pressure gauge and see what type of pressure this this vehicle is giving you at idle and at about 2000 RPM's. Your gonna have to remove the oil pressure sending unit/switch to screw in the pressure gauge. If its giving you the prescribed pressure while testing, worse case scenario is over. ( oil pump, engine wear) If your not getting the prescribed pressure with the testing gauge, its either the oil pump or engine wear or both. Have a Certified ASE Technician look over the vehicle if this is the out come. There is additional testing to be done which requires additional tooling expertise in this area.

Now if the pressure was within spec's with the test on gauge, its either the switch, the wiring to and from the gauge or the gauge itself. Get the Shop Repair manual for this vehicle for Oil pressure specifications as well as additional testing of switch , circuitry and gauge. This is fun stuff . Wear gloves and eye protection while removing the switch and screwing in the testing gauge and vise versa after testing is completed. Good luck

I have a '99 Voyager and the oil pressure sensor stays on and beeps at me while I am driving. It has plenty of oil. The oil was just changed 2 days ago and the oil pressure switch was changed 2 months ago....


The first thing to do, is take it back to your mechanic
and have them hook up a mechanical oil pressure
gauge. To find out the actual oil pressure,before any
serious damage results. As for the oil pressure sending unit, it's not that strange to get a bad one out
of the box. But lets eliminate the obvious first and have the gauge check done. Hope this helps.

if light is not working then first try this
* move ignition switch to on position, remove oil pressure sensor pin and touch it to engine body where it should get earthing, and same time oil light should come on, if it is not then that wire is disconnected some where in loom .

1993 GMC Sierra C1500 5.7 just recently started having the oil pressure drop. We think it may the oil pressure gauge where would that be at. We don't want to change the pump if changing the gauge will fix...


Most likely the Gage is not the problem these rarely go out. If the pressure is only dropping then the oil pump is getting weaker or is filling with sludge. Try running the engine with an oil additive such as marvel mystery oil or sea-foam. Then after the additive has circulated through the engine for a few heat ups and cool downs you can change your oil. the pressure should change almost immediately. If it doesn't then check the oil pressure switch. You can look on the side of the block and there will be a small piece shaped like a pencil with a wire coming from it. Oil pressure problem


You oil pressure sending unit has gone bad, it's common to go bad and some even leak oil. 
The oil pressure sensor is on the back of the block on the passenger side, you can get to it from the top and not from the bottom. There are (2) switches back there that screw in to the block and you can only see it from the top of the engine. The Oil Pressure Sending Unit is the one wire harness with a green and white strip on it. The other switch has more wires to it. 
When you pick up the new sensor, make sure you get the right one. make sure you get the Oil Pressure Sending Unit which sends variable oil pressure and has only one quick connect for the wire connector. The oil pressure switch is the one that only activates the oil light on older engine
Once you get the right part at Auto Zone for around $9.00, disconnect the wire clip with the green with white strip on it. and use a deep spark plug socket with a extension and u joint to get the sensor out. The sensor comes with teflon tape already and no oil should leak out from the block. It as simple as replacing a bolt and reconnecting the wire connector. 
Good luck and hope this helps, take no more then 10 min to do but about 5 hours for the engine to cool off LOL

Changed oil pressure switch,still no oil pressure


The fuel pump on that model runs through the oil pressure switch so that if the truck looses oil pressure,It kills power to the fuel pump to prevent engine damage.you need to find the cause of the low oil pressure reading(possibly a bad oil switch).That would be the cheapest place to start,or have it checked with a mechanical gauge.Good luck,

Fluctuation on the oil pressure gauge reading


The oil pressure sending unit is a sensor with an internal diaphragm, if the internal diaphragm is damaged , or the line to the diaphragm is blocked you can get this kind of fluctuation on the oil pressure gauge.

The oil pressure value must be read by installing a mechanical gauge near to the oil pressure switch and checking the pressure.

If pressure is ok, replace the sending unit. If there is a real pressure drop, check the oil pump.

If you still get fluctualtion after replacing the oil pressure sending unit, replace the oil pressure gauge.
