Question about 1995 Dodge Dakota
? I have a 2000 eldorado caddy. I had the problem you describe, mine ended up being the anti theft system. have you checked into that? my cars starting key has a chip on it and apparently the chip on the key over the years wore down and it no longer gave the proper reading to the cars system. The cost of repair was told to be over $600! So after much searching I found out how to change what the car should read on the key. I got an ohmn reader and found what my key reading was. Then I traced the wiring diag. to get the wire where the key is read to enable the car to start. found that wire and followed it to the begining at the ign switch i got some transistors from radio shack (under $5.00!) and wired them in a straight line to read what my key was giving. then the wire for the anti theft sys. I spliced these straight wired transistors in at the begining of the ign. I found the how to video on you tube. Now my cars anti-theft system reads what my key puts out and it starts once again! I was down my car for 4 days until I did this simple cheap fix! As single mom and money real tight I thought I would give this cheap fix a try, friends said I was crazy, and that I'd ruin my theft system ect.. well nope, the anti theft system still works, locked keys in car and going thru where I left window open about a inch to unlock car the anti theft system still went off as it should have and my cars obdii code system does not show any fault codes and all is good!. The only thing is you won't easily be able to have a duplicated key made. you'd have to make sure the ohmn reading on the key has the same reading....... just don't loose your key. well sorry of the length but this solved my problem, cheap and really kind of simple...(just getting to the wire under dash up on the steering column was a back breaker and pain, but well worth it!)..... Hope you are running fast.
