Question about 2002 Ford Explorer

2 Answers

2002 ford explorer none of the power windows go down. They stay in the up position all the time. I checked all fusses & looked at some relays. Where are all the fuses, control modules & relays located. It will not go into 4x4 high or low after mechanic rebuilt transfere case. He cannot figure out the auto 4x4. He is considering changing it to manual 4x4 in & out. I need wiring prints of both electric windows & 4x4 control.

There is a defect in the electronic control module for the power windows, it is covered under a TSB, the number of this Technical Service Bulletin is: TSB #04259, to diagnose and confirm this problem requires the dealer to hook up a special electronic system scanner called a NGS tester.

without a scanner the problem is unclear, I am a 35 year ford dealer master tech, u must scan the electronic body function control module to find out what is going on, there is never a simple answer on this model of ford for this problem. sorry u have given me such a poor response, I am ginvinhg u good advice, u can't fix this without testing 1st, the parts that control windows cost hundreds, do u want to guess.

The windows in my 1998 ford explorer dont work all the time and i cant find the relay fuse or any fuse for the windows where is it?

Hi there:
CHeck in Passenger Fuse Panel (early drive side dashboard / will need open drive door) and look position 12, 7.5A for Power Window Relay, Washer Pump Relay.

Also, could be a problem with the power windows switch, harnesses, wires or ground connections.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Cant find fuse for power windows?

According with the Explorer Owner Guide, I suggest...
1. Check for power on the Light Blue/Black (LB/BK) wire at the master window switch.
2. Check for a good ground to the master window switch on the Black (BK) wire. This wire provides the ground circuit for all of the window motors.

If both of these are good you probably have a bad master switch(drivers master switch).

The Light Blue/Black (LB/BK) wire gets its power supply from the accessory delay relay in the Central Junction Box (CJB) located under the instrument panel. The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) controls activation of the accessory delay relay. Fuse 2.17 is a 15 amp fuse in the CJB which supplies power to the relay. Fuse F1.6 is a 60 amp fuse in Battery Junction Box (BJB) which also supplies power to the accessory delay relay. G400(ground) is located at the driver side rear of the vehicle near the tail light assembly. This connection provides a ground for the master window switch (click image for zoom).

Hope helps.

Power windows wont work on 1999 Ford Explorer

If it's a problem with all the windows at the same time, it's probably a bad master window switch or power supply problem. Pop the master window switch out and check for voltage in both up and down positions...if you have none, check the relay module under the dash ...The GEM controls both the battery saver relay, and the accessory delay both of which need to be closed to supply current to the master switches.
Good luck..i hope this helpse, please take time to rate me a fixya.
