Question about 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

5 Answers

2000 silverado 4.3L V6 has misfire.check engine light on, code P0300.Check engine light will go out sometimes then come back. Changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor and coil, checked fuel pressure was stable at 62psi. still have problem. Checked other sites and found maybe it could be the distributor itself being sloppy.Anybody ever heard about that? Took truck to local garage and said it was fuel pump problem or cat converter problem, but sounded like they were not sure. Wouldn't like to spend a bunch of money for something that isn't a sure thing. Would appreciate any help. Thank You

What does that mean? (CHECK ALL THESE POSS CAUSES AND GET BACK TO ME WITH RESULTS) Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly. A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why. Symptoms Symptoms may include: the engine may be harder to start the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate other symptoms may also be present Causes A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Faulty spark plugs or wires Faulty coil (pack) Faulty oxygen sensor(s) Faulty fuel injector(s) Burned exhaust valve Faulty catalytic converter(s) Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages Faulty camshaft position sensor Defective computer Possible Solutions If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors. Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.

Check the engine compression,i think the valve cause the low compression. that is why your engine has misfire.

Hi! A p0300 code is a random misfire, possible causes: primary and secondary ignition, pcm, sticking valvles, worn injectors. Clogged injectors are pretty common but unfortunately you would have the proper equipment to test these areas safely and accurately. Recommend sending it to a qualified GM technician.

I had the same contions and did all of the above then dumped in 2 bottle of SPT fuel injector cleaner . Ran a full tank of fuel through the injectors running in tow/Haul for 360 miles. Problem is solved. No miss fires at speeds above 55 mph.

Code P0300 is a code that is generated when your engine has a misfire that is not related to only one cylinder. Sometimes this code will be set in addition to other codes such as P0301 which means that there is a misfire on cylinder 1 (cylinder 1 is the number one cylinder when looking at the firing order.

I am getting a po300 code i changed out the coils and still have a po300 code my car has a problem pulling off then seems to run good but still has a miss

still has a miss Larry, P0300 does mean misfire condition, but does not mean the coils were bad. Bad plugs, wires, injectors, coils, etc. can through this code.
Check the attached links, troubleshooting, instruction and guides, a lot of good info. Good luck .

Where is the purge solenoid location on a 1996 Chevrolet silverado 1500 ???? trucks runs bad and I was told it was that or some other vacuum leak also I have code p0300 and p1441 if anyone can help...

A P0300 DTC is a misfire code. The P1441 is a no flow during purge code which has to do with the purge solenoid. With the misfire code present I would say you have a vacuum leak on one of the hoses. The purge solenoid is located in the passenger side, rear of the intake manifold.
