If it has no reverse this is a dead give away the reverse clutch is defective inside the transmission, in order to replace this clutch assembly u will need to remove and overhaul the automatic transmission, have been a Ford dealer tech for decades, know this for 100% sure.

Your 96 has 5.8 or 7.3 sixe motor and the navigator has a 5.4 so I would say no it wouldn't. ...the 350 probably has a c6 or e4od and the navigator has a 4r100

1995 f350 powerstroke wont start one other time had to drop shifter and put back to park before it started now it wont start the lights elect windows and glow plug cycles but no clicking noise just nothing

replace the transmission range sensor. Adjust the new sensor by loosening the bolts slightly, turning the key on, putting the truck in reverse, and turning until reverse light come on.

there are 2 possible sensors, depending on which transmission you have.

I have a 94 f350 2wd 460 auto how can i tell if i have a e4od, or a 4r100 tranny? and can a 2wd tranny be converted to a4wd tranny? thanks bob.

the E4Od does not have a bypass cooler line on the case. The 4R100 has the bypass cooler it is located on the passenger side if the trans. it goes from the rear cooler line follows the case to the front cooler line, and is attached with 7/8" banjo bolts. the bypass cooler was designed to keep the fluid in the transmission until it reached operating temp it "bypasses the cooler at the radiator until trans fluid needs to b cooled

What you have is an E4OD transmission and will work with all Ford small block engines (300, 302, 351) in F150,F250, F350 and full size Broncos from 1983-1993.

A couple of possibilities: Sun gear is cracked or gear is stripped or your valve body has a sliver of aluminum or dirt in it allowing valve not to move.

Need to find the backup beeper or reverse light switch off of the 5 speed manual trans ford f350 1997.

Should be a small switch on the transmission itself. It will look like a threaded fitting screwed into the side or top of the transmission with 1 or 2 wires coming out of it. Lift the clip to release the wires & the unit will thread out with a wrench. On a 2wd truck there will also be a large cable (1/4" Diameter) attached to a fitting on the tail piece of the transmission, this is not what you are looking for. this is the Speedometer cable. On 4wd trucks the Speedometer cable is located on the back of the transfer case. either way, its not what you are looking for so don't remove it by mistake.

The back up light switch will "close" (to create circuit) for the back up lights only when the trans is in reverse & key is on (truck does not usually need to be running). The back up alarm is not usually a factory option & was likely installed at the dealer, another shop or by a previous owner. It is usually spliced off the back up light circuit wire somewhere between the trans & the rear bumper. Find the alarm & follow the wire back to the splice & ensure it is not corroded.
