Question about Toyota Previa

What is the proper compression reading for a 95 Toyota previa. Can you correctly read compression with a weak battery that is barely turning the engine? The reading is 30 psi

I did charge up the battery and did the compression test on all of the cylinders:

    #1- 90 psi
#2- 10 psi and 90 psi with oil in the cylinder
#3 - 0 psi and 0 psi with the oil
#4 - 0 psi and 0 psi with the oil in the cylinder

Sould i rebuild the engine or get a used one. they rebuild the engine for $300 plus parts

Ideally 120psi +/- 10% across all cylinders is ideal
being that this vehicle is 15 years old I'd worry below 100psi

30psi on one cylinder means...bent valves, bad rings
you'll need to cylinder leakdown to identify the problem but bottom line its time to replace

let me know if I can be of any further assistance!

depending on who is doing the rebuilding and weather they will warranty their work will depend on weather you rebuild or replace

There are very few shops around here that will even rebuild an engine, most just R&R (remove and replace)

Who are they? a garage? Did you drive it in with a bad motor( or it was moving)? There are plugs that can be crossed on the transmission, but you have to really try to get them to reach. Have codes read, if you can.

The compression is the same for all cylinders(150), but when I turned motor over, water came out of #1 cylinder only. Any idea?

Sounds like a head gasket leaking water in from the cooling system. Does it run OK? Any water in the oil on the dipstick and a mayonnaise type film on the oil filler cap?

if battery dead replace light turns on , please observe electrolyte ,check terminals for any acid corrosion ,use a multimeter take reading before you switch on your ignition then take reading while ignition ,if the readings is less than 12 ,01 volts is ok with the battery and the cranking point not less than 09 -5 volts if less when cranking replace the battery

What is problem if previa wont start but turns over

You need spark to the plugs, fuel to the injectors, and normal compression. One of the three is missing.

Where is the ect sensor on a 1995 toyota previa

There are three temperature sensors on a 95 Previa engine. They are located on the left front side of the engine. The lower one is somwhat accessable from under the vehicle but access to the other two will require removal of the passenger seat and the access cover under the seat.
