Sounds like you are referring to the rail or roller. the dealer will have this or stop by a autoglass shop or auto recycler for a used part.

common problem and easy to change . aftermarket regulators are around 100$. but if need be remove door panel and use a measuring tape and measure from the bottom inside door upto the bottom of glass when up. cut a 1x3 piece of wood to length and slide it in as a temp solution

How do you replace a front drivers side power window motor? It is stuck all the way down and I can't pry it up. Is there a way to release it so I can get to the motor to replace it?

You have to remove the door panel. Remove the window from the regulator( two screws that hold the glass to the regulator) . Pull the glass up and wedge two pieces of wood from bottom of door to hold the window up.
Make sure its the motor thats giving you the headache and not the regulator. Regulator is notorious for snapping from the motor.

1999 oldsmobile alero power window problems

9 times out of 10 when windows won't roll up or down it is the switch. It is probably just dirty or broke. pop it out of there open it up and check it out. Don't be afraid to do it yourself. if it isn't your switch than try replacing motor/regulator. I am pretty sure it is easiest to get them together. just be careful not to bend the regulator arms!!!!!!

96 dodge grand caravan drivers side power window---i have broken the nylon slides that attach to the window itself= do i have to replace the whole window monitor or can i buy the two nylon plastic slides...

It sounds like the Regulator is broken and needs to be replaced. Below is a picture of how the glass attaches to the regulator. Note the gold colored clip in the back that holds the glass to the regulator. IF the plastic piece that broke is the WHITE piece in the picture (yours may be black) then it is part of the regulator.
(the black piece in the picture is part of the glass)

I'm pretty sure, that is sold as a regulator unit only. And it's not cheap. Sometimes it's cheaper at a glass place than the dealer.
