Check the fuses

Posted on Apr 25, 2010

I have the same thing, but all four of the windows stopped working. The two back ones seem to have just fallen. I took it to Auto Zone and Checkers to check the fuses They couldn't tell if they looking at the right fuses or not. My gas guage does not read right sometimes it reads as full and it can be on empty. When I first start ithe car it reads correctly until it warms up. The cruise control does not work. I see the light on the dashboard when I start ithe car so I know I have it. The service stability system warning comes on. Sometimes the car will feel like it has a flat and locks up with no power. Can anyone help me?

fuse blown.
check fuses.
some cars have circuit breakers on window motors.
if one motor shorts the breaker pops but then resets.
i use a voltmeter to find lost power feed.
its easy.
check voltage to motor, got 12v , when active (swith closed?)
no, then check at the switch, got 12v at switch input and output
with switch active,
yes, then wire is cut from switch to dead motor.
no, then wire is cut from input to switch and fuse.
like that. its not hard at all to use any voltmeter even a $10 meter at walfart.

My powerwindows stopped working

I assume all the windows are not working. You have checked the fuse? Now check the wires at the driver door hinge, as well as the switch on the same door. Too many times the drivers window gets left down during a sudden rain. Hope this helps.

Driver side powerwindow not working

Hi there. Here's a tip for you. Ensure you are in a quite environment, switch on the ignition and hold the window switch in the up position for as long as you can and listen very, very carefully! What you should be listening for is a very faint 'click', that's the thermal cut-out working. If you hear this you know your switch is getting power and you then need to check out the actual window motor - it might be seized or simply not working. Of course, the basics like fuses should be checked too. Best regards, Scottech.

Driverside powerwindow quit working

You can try rock window switch Up and Down really fast to see if it moves, also you can pound on the lower interior door panel while holding switch. If it works the first way you have a bad switch or bad connection, If it works the other way you have a bad window motor.
