Question about 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse

1 Answer

My engine won't start.

My car will not start the first few times that I turn over the Key. It struggles to start and finally it works. When ever I slow down, the engine seems to stall and my powersteering locks up and my lights in my dashboard light up. When ever I am slowing down or stopped at a light, the car locks up and I have to turn it on and off a few times to get it to work again.
It just started to do with last night. But before while I was waiting at a stop light or sign, my little oil pan light would flicker on and off, but I had just changed my oil so no clue what to do

The oil light began to flicker beacuse of low oil pressure with the lower RPM I expect. Four things for your engine to run: 1, Spark, 2, fuel 3, compression and lastly the timing.
While running at higher RPM how well (or poorly) does the engine run?
This may be as simple as a clogging fuel filter, low pressure = poor fuel stream which = poor performance.
May be the fuel pump failing too.
Other ideas; starved for air, very dirty air filter?
Also corld be crank, cam or MFA sensor too. Sart easy with the fuel filter and work from there.

If I may be of additional help, please let me know.

Have replaced the battery on a nissan almera tino and now it won't start. It turns over OK but will not fire.

I changed the battery as it was struggling to start over a few days and then died completely after being left over a weekend. After the replacement all electrics worked but the engine wouldn't turn over, it just clicked. There was no immobiliser warning or messages on the screen. I tried a few of the things on this forum but it turned out to be a broken battery earth cable where it attaches to the gearbox under the car. I removed the cable (easier with the battery tray removed) then had a new lug attached to the end. Total cost 1.50. phew!

My steering wheel locked and my key won't turn so I can start the ignition

Common problem with steering locks is that they can jam in position I recommend putting the key in and gently moving the steering wheel side to side as far as it will reasonably go without struggle and maintain even pressure on the key, this should hopefully work after a few seconds.
Hope this helps, Sion.

2006 Jeep Wrangler won't start

First, make sure you can turn the engine by hand. If you can't then the starter can't turn it either. Have someone else turn the key and look for the source of the click...may be a relay. Go over the starting circuit with a volt meter. Check for power at the starter main terminal and then with the key turned to "start" check for power at the trigger terminal on the starter. Check battery voltage and check relay operation.
You have a neutral safety switch on the transmission if its an automatic and a clutch switch if it's a stick. Check them as well. Make sure battery grounding on fender and block are also clean and secure.

Struggling to Accelerate immediately after starting engine

Most likely there is a hole in the air tube. Open the hood and check the rubber tube on top of the engine. If there is a rip, just cover it with some heavy duty tape and it will help on a tempory basis.

Struggling to Accelerate immediately after starting engine

I would check the air filter, pcv valve (take it off and shake it), spark plugs and wires to see if it's just time to change em'.
