First disconnect te battery terminal at the battery secound from the top disconnct the wires at the starter one small one on the small exciter terminal of the solenoid then remove the plastic cover shield from at th bellhousing area of the transaxle at the nose of the starter. (this is best done from underneath then remove the plastic drip deflector from under the oil filter there are three bolts holding this in place then remove the two starte bolts one short on the fron side of the starter and one longer one which you have to get at from behind the cradle cross member then from the top wiggle the starter out of the engine compartment being carefull of all other still connected wiring hope this helped

It's a little unclear exactly what you are wanting. Are you wanting to know how to replace the starter? In any case, it would be helpful to know which engine your 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix is equipped with.

I have a 1995 pontiac grand prix sometime it will start and sometimes it won't. i thought it was the starter solenoed so i bought a new starter but it is still doing it. when i turn the key everything...

Given the age of the car I'd check the neutral safety switch and the shifter linkage it could be causing the neutral safety switch to get a bad reading. After that I'd check the ignition switch itself. I don't remember if the '95 had a starter switch relay but you might check that too.

sensor might be dirty, try removing them and cleaning them. Dont use sprays as they pose a threat more than they fix. Check tires to see if there is one that might be WAY lower than the rest. Or consider taking it to a shop if you cant find the rigth abs sensor.

I need to find out how to install a new starter solenoid on a 97 Pontiac Grand Prix with a 3.8 engine. Need to know where wires go.

its part of the starter. You replace it as a whole. Once you have it you will know what to look for and then its up to you to access it. If you have a radio that needs a code be prepared to lose it when you disconnect the battery. Then disconnect the wires on the starter,
