i reconnedted the harness with labels for the cylinders could i have reconnected them in the wrong order?

  • shaggy8969 Apr 25, 2010

i didnt have to remove any grounds so that is hard to believe. But i do agree it is electrical so what sensors can act as a kill switch to that motor? the only wires were connections that i had to touch. and very little vaccum lines.

  • shaggy8969 Apr 25, 2010

no anti theft. and replaced the ect cause i broke it during removal. will recheck oil pressur witch and mass air flow again. any other ideas?

Make sure the injectors are getting pulse,if they are not, check the harness to the injectors.

The injectors are most likely the problem, they are not pulsing fuel into the cylinders.

Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 25, 2010

It is very possible if so,the injectors would pulse, but they would pulse at the wrong time, most of the time the engine would start in this case but would run poorly, check to see that all grounds are back on the engine that where removed,if the air duct system is not put back on the engine it will not start either.

the mass air flow sensor will cause this, make sure it is getting air threw it,and that it is plugged up.Coolant sensor ,and oil sending unit,Does the car have antitheft?

Of course the vacuum to map is not achieved unless the engine is running.Have you narrowed it down to the injectors not pulsing? Is there fuel in the cylinders? Is there fuel in the tank, silly question, but trying to eliminate the basics.

Is the fuel pump pumping fuel?

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 25, 2010

remove a fuel pressure line,or the fuel filter to make sure there is fuel pressure.

Fuel pressure could have been the problem all along, and has finaly went, just checking basics, make sure there is fuel pressure.

Can you spray starting fluid in the intake and see if it will start up?

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 25, 2010

If you have 40 psi at the rail, then the injectors are not pulsing. But there is spark,so the crank sensor can cause this, even with spark,,I think what ever was making it run bad before may have got worse,we just need to figure out what.It will most likely start with starting fluid. The injectors would just about line up with the connectors, but see if the first two on either side maybe crossed.

2000 navigator 5.4 crank no start no fuel in rail. key on brief pump sound.

Check for an emergency fuel shutoff switch near right side kickpanel inside the passenger compartment. Stick your head down by the floorboard and look up to the right corner area above your head. Activate that switch (usually has a red button on it) manually by pushing on the button and try it. If this "fixes" it, there is likely a short or you will have to tape it in position so the fuel pump is on during normal driving.

I have a 2001 Chevy Malibu that over heated. Just got done replacing head gaskets and intake manifold gaskets still no start. I heard water flowing out of my exhaust! I have no idea why..

there could be coolant left in the exhaust. check spark and fuel. if you have spark and fuel, check compression. if you have spark, fuel and compression, it should start

You have a blown head gasket. This is not a cheap repair, the intake and exhaust manifolds have to come off, the head has to be removed and check for warp. The block has to be checked and the gasket replaced

I have a 1987 924s porsche..i had an intake leak at the intake manifold gasket but it ran pretty good considering for 20 thousand some odd miles with a little mis. So i replace the intake manifold gasket...

If you have spark and gas it should at least fire unless you don't have any compression. I would make sure that you have spark on all cylinders at the spark plugs.

2000 blazer will not start did a manifold gasket job, replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap,new fuel filter. Cranked and ran really good for 2 days then will not crank

Check you starter, maybe you have a loose connection. Try to give direct power to the starter and see what's happening. I nothing happens, you have a bad starter.

intake manifoold leak check all vacuum lines replace all vacuum lines if look cracked ,spark plugs could be fouled out by leaking fuel injectors, clean fuel injectors, replace fuel filter, replace air filter, replace spark plugs and wires,do tune up see if it helps if not.could have leaking intake manifold gasket or leaking egr valve, use engine vacuum gauge check engine vacuum for intake manifold gasket leaks.

The fuel pump pressure shoud be 55-61 psi . Check for spark by removing a ignition wire at a spark plug and put a spark plug in wire and hold to engine ground and crank engine , if no spark then remove coil wire at cap and repeat. If still no spark then coil , module,,crank sensor or pickup may be the problem.
Check fuel pump pressure first and if available check for codes for possible crank sensor.

I have never heard of this before but if this is the case then cranking the engine will refill them with engine oil surely ,i mean how do they build them on the assembly line at 3 engines a minute then start them from new on the test bed before the engine leaves the assembly for the body plant .Are you sure something else isnt wrong like the vacumn pipe to the valve on the end of the fuel injector line ?
