Try pulling steering wheel one way or the other to take the pressure off the pin that locks the wheel from the tumbler.

I assume you have kids and that's why you want to lock it and keep it secured either your kids jammed something in that ignition switch and messed something up. So I would take a good flash light and peer down into that key ignition hole and see if anything is blocked in there. if so or a bad ignition switch, you need disconnect the battery and remove the bottom dash plate from the steering wheel and you will have to disconnect the ignition cable from the ignition switch and take out the ignition by unscrewing the securing screws that hold that ignition in, best to get a mechanic book made for that make and model.

ok you will need a puller to remove the stering wheel once you have it off you will
see a phillups screw holding the ignition in. once the screw is out you will have to
play with it but it will come out.

My ignition switch on my 2003 civic .is not working. i can put the key in but it wont turn forward or backwards. what should i do?

Have you tried to turn the steering wheel side-to-side, while turning the key?
The steering wheel may be very hard to turn, but moving it just a little may free-up the key
Sometimes parking against a curb, or turning off the car while the steering is turned all the way to one side, will cause the stering wheel lock to actually lock the key cylinder from turning.

My key wont turn, I have an automatic c-class mercedes the stering wheel is locked and the key wont turn in the ignition, all lights are working though and the battery has been checked

the Neiman blocker - the part from the key hub that block the wheel - has failed. To remove it the steering wheel must be dismantled completely and this is definitely a job for a shop - if you're not careful you can fry the entire electric system of the car.
