Question about 2002 Saturn L-Series

1 Answer

On a regular basis our Saturn L200 (2002 model-less than 50k miles) will have a loud fan noise coming from under the hood- normally lasts a couple days or so (only when running)-took to Saturn Dealer and of course a block away from dealer it stopped... but he ran it on the computer and found no problems-and said it was not abnormal for it to happen with that model, and not to worry- and didnt charge me a penny- we drive mostly in town small distances (thus the under 50k) just wondering if I should be concerned

Not at all,it is normal for a car with electric fans,once hot,to run on full blast,until it gets back to normal temp.
if you start to loose power and the temp guage drops right down or hits the roof then start to worry.

May well be. You might want to check your coolant. If you're low (but not yet overheating) your fan will come on more often.

Loud noise when a/c and defrost are on

I would check the fan motor for the heater sounds like the bearing is going out. Does it scream and then go quite or rumble if so it is probably the heater fan. It will run and blow air but it will make a lot of weird noises. If you shut the fan off and the noise goes away it is the fan.

Hi Friend:

You need to Replace your Inginition Switch, and Probally your Wiring Harness in the steering Wheel colume.

Once you remove your Stering Wheel and Swith You'll Probally see a Indication that your Wiring has been getting HOT and Burning off the Plastic Wire Installation;

Check All the Wiring Under Dash and Under Hood as Well.It won't help to replace it until you get to the Core of The Problem.

Which I'm sure it will be Visable.Un-Wrap any Black Electical Tape that is on the System, It can be Hiding the Wires that have Gotten Hot.

Please let me know how i've helped you,By Voting and a Testamony would be appreciated;

Battery light turned on. Lost power steering and AC.

You broke your serpatine belt. Needs replacing. It's a $50ish part and easy to do if you have a diagram under the hood of how the belt fits. But if it was "rattling" for a couple of weeks take it in for crying out loud. Let the mechanic look it over to make sure your lack of vechile care didn't destroy anything under the hood.....

That noise is probably the air injection system which is part of the emmision system. When it is making that noise, open the hood and determine where it is coming from, note if it is a mechanical sound, etc. The air injection if equiped would sound almost like forced air scaping somewhat like an exhaust leak, but less intense.
