Check all connections to the battery and the starter too. Clean if needed and tigthen up. If it still does the same the solenoid is at fault

98 chevy 2500 wont start after cutting off while i was driving

Turn the key to the on (not run) position and listen tosee if you could hear the fuel pump turn on (prime) for a few seconds. If not, check the fuel pump fuse and if its good, its probably a bad fuel pump.

How did it die? Did it feel like you were out of gas?

Hey I have a 91 cb lancer I turn the key to on then to start and all I hear is a click why won't it start what could be the problem

When you turn the key to the "on" position, see if the panel lights come on and try honking the horn too, if everything works it means the battery is fine.

Now, turn the key to start the engine. Does the engine just give out a click? If so, the battery terminals may be loose. Tighten the terminals leading to the battery posts with the correct tools and try turning the key once again.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Listen to hear if you can hear the fuel pump kicking on when you first turn the key. You should hear a humming sound for a second or two. If you do, it is working, If not, it is not working. If so, check your fuel pump fuse, relay, and shut off button if you have one. It could also be bad fuel injectors. You can pour fuel into the intake, if it starts, you have a fuel issue. If it doesn't, it shouldn't be fuel related then. If these all check out, if you don't have inside power, it is a connection problem with the battery or a bad battery. If you have power and there is a clicking sound, clean the battery terminals and post, check the connection. Make sure the battery is good. If you turn the key and there is nothing, you have a bad starter or starter solenoid. Check your ignition fuse also. If the starter is not getting the correct amount of power from the battery, it won't start. Make sure the alternator isn't draining the battery as well.

2007 chevy cobalt ls won't start battery good starter good turn key nothing no click nothing all lites work on dash and radio works jumped starter with screwdriver turns. Over but won't start...

Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.

My dodge dakota truck will not start. It has power we tried to pop the clutch too.

do you mean the truck won`t start and run or do you mean it won`t turn over with the key.if it won`t turn over with the key the you may have a starter problem.if you mean won`t start then it could be the fuel pump not working.with someone cranking the motor you should hear the fuel pump running with the gas cap off and listening at the filler neck.or hear it running listening under the truck at the gas tank.if you don`t hear it then you can hit the tack sharply with your hand or a rubber hammer,it hear the pump start to run then the fuel pump needs replacing.if not check the fuses under the dash and under the hood.if they are good then it may be the pump relay in the relay box under the hood and it should be marked on the box or lid.

My 2005 F150 will not start I turn The Key and Nothing. Checked Battery it is good All connections seem to be good. I hear clicking in the passenger floor panel. Then sometimes the truck will just start...

When you say nothing, does that mean no power or you turn the key and there is no crank ?

If you turn the key to the run position ( do not start engine ) press and hold the brake and shift into neutral, and try to start, what happens ?

The other item to bench test is the start motor relay, which is in the cab fuse panel.

98 Accord DX clicks once when key is turned, eventually starts

Check battery terminals and make sure they are free of corrosion and are tightly secure on battery. If all is good it may be the stater that's sticking. or maybe clutch safety switch on clutch pedal is going bad. Good Luck contact me if you need more help

Won't start

if you have power and can turn the key and hear a click and your power is not lost than it is your starter it is bad or stuck.. you can try to hit it with a hammer SLIGHTLY. and try to knock it loose and see if it doesn't turn over then. if it doesn't than you need to replace the starter. you might also have someone turn the key and get under the truck and listen for the click you will be able to hear the starter click. If you hear it and your truck doesn't start than what is happening is it is engaging the spindle but not the gear.

Truck won't even turn over now

You possibly have a bad starter. To check for this, it's best to have an assistant turn the key while you perform a simple test. Locate the starter (should be on the passenger side). On the solenoid switch, there will be two sets of wires connected to it. The large battery cable will be connected to a stud with a 13mm nut on it. There might be a couple of other wires connected to this same post. Now there should be a smaller single wire connected to a smaller post an the solenoid. This is the wire coming from the ignition switch. Using a test light, have the assistant turn the key to the START position. You should have power on this wire at this point. If you do, then the starter is bad and will need to be replaced. If there is no power in the START position, then possible problems are the NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH, the IGNITION SWITCH, or a bad connection between the ignition switch and the starter.
