How can I get key out which is stuck in ignition of 2008 cobalt. It also won't start

This can happen if the battery is low / dead. To solve, connect a set of jumper cables between the battery in the Cobalt and a running car's battery. Shut off the running car. In the Cobalt, make sure all accessories (lights, radio, fan, etc.) are off. Step on the brake, then move the gear shifter fully into the PARK position. Next, either attempt to start the engine, or turn the key to the OFF position and remove it from the ignition.

I hope this helps & good luck!

What di I di if key won't come out of ignition of my 2012 Malibu?

Well, at least someone else is having the same problem! I have had this problem occur 4 times in the last month, and have reported it to the dealership. Naturally, they can\'t find anything wrong, and if they can\'t duplicate the problem they can\'t repair it! I complained so much about the their lack of concern, that the service manager called GM and they claim NO ONE else had ever reported the problem with the later model Malibu\'s. I mean, come on! My Cobalt had this occur numerous times and the dealership finally replaced the defective parts. Why can\'t GM admit they have an overall problem with their ignitions? Geez........

Car won't start keys were left in ignition

Try jumping/boosting the vehicle, all of the above will still work with a weak/low battery but the starting system takes a lot of amperage to turn over the engine. If you only left the keys in the car and no lights on or anything running why would it not start if it was starting correctly before??? Whats happened since the car was last started?

Key in 2008 cobalt......won't turn anything....second time this key...tried spare smart key also

The smart key signal receiver in the car may not be receiving the code right, or it may have changed the code for some freak reason. Regardless, take you car to the dealership, I assume you have done that the first time, and have them fix it again, be polite, but let them know you are not happy, and they may give you a break.
