hi, thanks for the response...........no code was posted but this is kind of funny, the security light was flashing instead of on steady when we tried to start it... well you leave the key on for 10 minutes shut it off without starting it then start it and it worked................

I own a 2001 Cadillac Deville. About a week ago, I ran out of gas. Once I refueled, it turns over but won't run unless I use starting fluid. And even then it won't stay running.

its possible u may have burnt out the pump it uses the fuel to cool the pump

!994 LaSabre starts ...runs awhile then turns off. Fuel pump replaced, ran for a week ...now stalling out again. WOn't start this last time around.

If it is a 3.8 engine change the crank sensor,they go bad on the 3.8 engines.

My 2001 kia sportage won't start the battery is good it trys to start but acts like its not getting fuel I think is the fuel filter but not sure what else can it be

get a fuel pressure test done on the fuel pump to see if its getting pressure

I hava a 1992 pontiac grand am . I replaced the fuel tank and the fuel pump. It trys to start but it will not run. It is like it is getting some gas but not enough to start.

Put at least 5 gallons of gas in the tank. Most tank baffles won't let 1 or 2 gallons get to the pump.
Before you do that, go back and make sure everything is hooked up, and no rotten rubber lines at tank and evap connections. If you didn't already, change the fuel filter.

YOU NEED A LITTLE TUNE UP.REPLACE FUEL FILTER, REPLACE AIR FILTER,CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS.REPLACE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES.IF ENGINE STILL SHAKE YOU COULD HAVE FUEL PUMP OR FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR PROBLEMS.

My 2001 Pontiac Grand Am doesn't want to start. I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter about a month ago. It has been running good! Yesterday the dash lights didn't turn on and the car won't start again.

Had the same problem, turned out to be the security system, when the security system has a glitch, the car's computer stops the fuel pump from working to prevent theft, so if you have changed your stereo to an after-market brand, make sure that you have installed a GMRC-1 box, this helps to avoid this problem.

Won,t start

You have may have a clogged exhaust system. disconnect the exhaust pipe and see what happens.

My 2001 new Beetle will not stay running. It starts up, then 5-8 seconds later will sputter out and die. If I pump the gas peddle a bit after it starts, it trys to stay running longer but then sputters out...

Try this: You will need 2 people - Have someone Spray Starting Fluid in the throttle then start the car and have someone spray the fluid continuously into the throttle. If the car continues to run you have a fuel problem, but if it stalls out, replace the coil pak. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
