yea most american made cars have the fuel pump in the tank.....just drop the tank and replace....not that hard to do but you will need a helping hand...not something id attempt on my own......did you check the fuel pump relay and fuse.....that could be i too....try that first its cheaper....hope this helps :)

IS IT POSSIBLE YOU GOT A WIRE CROSSED? or a plug is cracked and or gap closed up? i would check these. you have the 5.3? what kind of plugs are you running?

If this is the same lincoln, read the first and then consider a tune up. When plugs were they create a higher spark demand. The higher spark demand sometimes isn't met and the plug fails to fire or the high voltage spark cross fires to the nearest ground or other wires. At night you can see the wires arcing in the engine compartment. It's pretty to watch but a pain in the ****. Good luck
