Have the ignition lock cylinder replaced. They get worn out and then the tumblers fall out and you can't turn the key.

I can't turn the key to my ignition switch and the power steering is lock too. The position of the front tires are not straight.

Turning the wheel back and forth while trying the key should work. In the future try not to lock the ignition with the wheel turned hard.

My spare(walmart made) key wouldn't turn the ignition on so i tried original but still wont...how do i fix it and or how do i shift into neutral to tow home if the key doesnt come out of lock position

The ignition lock cylinder has probably failed. It includes a radio sensor which reads a chip in the body of the original key and won't start if it can't see the chip. The pins inside the lock wear over time until they no longer align correctly to release the lock. The wal-mart key may have also left additional debris in the lock that keeps it from turning. If you can take the key out, put powdered graphite into the keyhole and work it in by moving the key in and out several times. The graphite often helps to fill the small gaps created by the pins wearing so that the key can be turned. Also try jiggling the steering wheel, spraying wd40 into the lock, or lightly tapping the key into the lock with a small hammer to free it up. If you must get towed, the tow truck should be able to lift the vehicle by the front end for towing. The rear wheels will turn freely as long as the parking brake is not on.

your steering wheel lock is connected to ignition in column, pull hard on steering wheel in direction wheels are turned at the same time turn key, this should free them both up.

My '99 Passat had been operating with no problems until two days ago when we tried to turn the key in the ignition to start the vehicle. Not only did the key not turn, but it seemed that steering wheel...

Your steering wheel is locked in place. You need to put the key into the ignition, then turn the steering wheel more towards the way it is already turned and try turning the key then in the ignition. The steering wheel should move ever so slightly and it should free up the ignition. Let me know how this turns out.

Put key in my ignition of my 2005 dodge durango and won't turn on

Disconnect the battery.. Its magnetic. The transponder has gone bad in the key. May need replacing. Unless someone tried to put the wrong key in the ignition and broke the electrical contacts inside the tumbler

Key won't turn

u are going to have to have the dealer replace the ignition lock cylinder and then reprogram the security system to recognize the new keys electronic transponder code.

Key not turning

Just had the same thing happen to me with my 2001 T&C. As soon as I explained this to the tow truck driver that came to tow my vehicle to the shop, he chuckled and said "put the key in the ignition and then hit the key with the palm of your hand a couple of times." Apparently the tumblers just weren't lined up properly. He still suggested getting the ignition replaced, but at least now I know what to do. Hope this works for you.
