Question about 1988 Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

My 1988 Dodge Dakota starts when cool, and runs good at all times. However, after the vehicle has ran for 20 min or more, it will turn but will not start again until it cools off.

The thing I forgot to mention is that when it is hot and you turn it off, it will start immediately if you spray a carb spray in the carb. Otherwise you have to wait until it cools off. I would therefore think maybe not coil or wiring? Thanks for the help! Sorry I forgot to mention the other.

Sounds like your ignition coil is getting hot. it is either a bad connectioin with the wiring leading to your distributor or bad connections with your batt terminals. also you might want to check all your fuses and make are all correct size

2001 Dodge Dakota Sport, will cold start but after running for 15 min or so will not start until engine cools. Engine will turn over but not fire

Check for spark , probably a crank sensor problem . Check videos on youtube on test crank sensor . Some sensor is breaking down when it gets warmed up .

I have a 1995 dodge dakota 4 cyl. and standerd trans. I just replaced the head gasket and it starts and runs great when it is cold but after running for a few min. it stumbles and has low power, it will...

have you done a back pressure test on the catalytic convertor? may have become clogged when the headgasket gave up. normally acts up after vehicle warms up and doesn't set an engine code.

Drive for about 45 min It stalls i wait 20 min it starts back up

There's a possibility that your fuel pump is going out. What's happening is that you can drive for the 45 min. and the pump gets hot and shuts itself off. After it cools off, it starts working again.
