Did this problem start after the new alternator or is this the reason you replaced the alternator? sounds like a loose wire on the alternator or the battery post. make sure the battery terminals are clean from corrosion. if there is a hot spot on the wires or connectors that is a good sign that is a loose connection.

The alternator was not replaced but in the process of replacing the water pump for access. I had to disconect the alternator and wondered if I may have improperly reconnected the ground wire. Although the car ran for several months before more electrical problems brgan to occur.

My 2007 chrysler 300 radio makes a popping noise a d then sound stops after a while turn radio back on and sound is working

the speakers maybe blown out, there mite be a short in the system, the antenna maybe loose or have short in the connector, there a short in an electronic component in the radio, it also could be a grounding issue, when you hit a bump it looses it connection or the unit has short in the receiver and it cuts out the signal in the radio station, losing power some where, if i was you go to stereo shop or buy new radio, all the money you would spend looking or trying to repair would cost you a lot of money, troubleshooting, radio, speakers, wiring, shop supples, no warranty after wards,
good luck

Have a 1999 chrysler seabring coup started fine yesterday morning drove kid to school came home put brakes on it started it pump the brakes few time put n reverse died wont start

HI,THAT IS A USUAL ISSUE RELATED TO THE ELECTROMAGNET WHICH IS ENGAGED ON "P or N" position.Charge your battery overnight, try your handbrakes,if they work fine, just leave the car in whenever you stop and put your handbrake on.This won discharge then the battery unless there is a unrelated electrical fault in the system.

2005 avalanche electrical issues

The first place to start would be to have a qualified repair shop hook up a factory or professional scan tool an check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM - body control module .
The body control module (BCM) performs multiple body control functions. The BCM can control devices directly connected to its outputs based on input information. The BCM evaluates this information and controls certain body control systems by commanding outputs on or off. The BCM control inputs can be:
• Sensors and switches that are directly connected to the BCM
• Class 2 serial data received from other control modules connected to the class 2 serial data link
The BCM is also capable of controlling other vehicle systems that are not directly wired to the BCM. The BCM does this by sending specific messages on the class 2 serial data link. The control module capable of performing the required function will respond to the BCM message.
The BCM controls these functions:
• Audible warnings--Refer to Audible Warnings Description and Operation in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
• Automatic door locks--Refer to Power Door Locks Description and Operation in Doors.
• Automatic headlamp control--Refer to Exterior Lighting Systems Description and Operation in Lighting Systems.
• Interior lighting--Refer to Interior Lighting Systems Description and Operation in Lighting Systems.
• Keyless entry (AUO option)--Refer to Keyless Entry System Description and Operation in Keyless Entry.
• Passlock theft deterrent--Refer to Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD) Description and Operation in Theft Deterrent.
• Retained accessory power (RAP)--Refer to Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Description and Operation .

Then if no DTC'S , pick one of the systems messing up . Test electrical circuit , using a wiring diagram an a DMM- digital multi-meter . Watch this video , not same model or make ,watch how this professional tech diagnose's

My Mercury cougar 2001 v6 2.5 when i hit the brakes the dash goes out and car dont wont start i just check the alt. its good and the battery nt holdin chagre need help

Hello, Look under the dash at the top of your Brake Pedal lever. There is a switch there that often gets hit by the shoe of the Driver. If this switch is cracked the internal parts can short out.

The switch is part of the Interlock system for the Starter and also goes with the Gearshift selector. I imagine the short can do other things if the car is in gear as opposed to its normal function in the Park position.

Although the other connections at the Firewall or "Bulkhead" may cause problems, I rule this out because any Vibration would make such a connection cut-out without applying the Brakes. The switch I mentioned is directly affected by braking and is a better candidate for your problem. Please let me know what you found.

My 2007 seabring won't shift out of park... Car

The car is probably on a steep hill and a lot of pressure is on the park pawl in the automatic transmission. If this is the case, a hard sudden pull should release it. Make sure the brake is on. When parking on a hill in the future use the parking brake before placing the lever in park.

Lights dim and radio cuts out for a second when applying brakes - intermittenly. I can hear a slight high pitched noise.Yesterday on the freeway when I applied the brakes, the speedometer and tach went...

My degree is in electronics and I would be somewhat skeptical with that explanation. Define main relay? The relay has to control some electronic device like the dome light or turn signals. When the lights and radio cut out it sounds like a short circuit but that should have definitely blown a fuse. It is unlikely that it is an intermittent short and which is not fused because the insulation would quickly burn off the wires and start smoking. Therefore, I believe it would be more of an open circuit and would first check the battery for good clean connections. Next I would check the ground wire from the battery connection to the engine block and vehicle chassis.

Engine cuts out intermittently. Traced to brake application, turn signal activation, moving gear shift, opening drivers door. Loose gnd wire??? Can even make it stall by turning on radio or rear window...

An intermittent electrical problem can be maddening to fix. I have a similar problem in my truck. The connection to the engine fuse in the interior fuse block is loose. If I wiggle the fuse to re-establish contact, the engine will restart.

Next time the engine stalls, notice which of the lights illuminate on the dash. Compare this to which lights illuminate when you first turn the switch on and when engine will start. Applying the brakes probably shifts the loose connection enough to cause the engine to stall.

No power to the radio and remote door lock control does not work

Sounds like a loose connection , probably a ground connection . Looking at a wiring diagram to see if these system share a common ground point . If they don't ,testing the electrical circuit's for these systems would need to be do to find the problem .Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html
Enter the vehicle info . year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on lighting then under subsystem click interior light . Then look under body & accessories , an power lock's .Then under interior & driver amenity ( audio system) . Watch these video's on electrical testing , how to read a wiring diagram .Buy a DMM - digital multi-meter ,test the power an grounds .
