Metal rattling sound over bumps in rear passenger wheel

In my '04 Grand Am, when i'm driving over bumpy roads i hear a metal rattling sound (almost as if the wheel wants to fall off) in the rear passenger wheel? Also, when traveling at high speeds and applying the brakes firmly, the whole car vibrates/shakes. Are these brake issues?

Thanks, I hope this turns out to be the problem. And inexpensive to take care of.

Hello Hirsh.
Most common noise from rear is caused by worn sway bar links or bushings. This is usually an easy and relatively inexpensive repair.
There are other possibilities such as struts, strut mounts, broken spring, control arm bushings but isn't quite as common as the sway links.

Your brake vibration is most likely a brake rotor that has warped or has become rusted and "catches" the brake pad on every revolution of the wheel and causes the pulsation.
Replacement of the brake rotors is the best fix.
I use Delco rotors as replacements as I have found they are the best for longevity/cost/value.
Cheap ones do not last long.
There you are, hope your repairs go well. Take care.

The rattling noise may be the exhaust loose or moving or else a slight scratch to the bumber. There are some shock absorbers or fittings along the line of the exhaust which holds the pipe in place to the car body. These may need changing as over time they are worn out and allow the pipe to vibrate. Also regarding your shake when braking is concerned with brakes, suspension and alignement. It seems your car is a bit used and you will require service brakes, align wheels and check suspension to fix these issues. Good luck with this.

NO PUN INTENDED. If u are asking about "if its a shock absorber" I professionally advise u not to tackle the repair. It may not even be a shock we're referring to.

I have a 1998 blazer. The back hatch window lock keeps acting as if wants to open. There is a noise the whole time you drive unless you hit the button on the dash to open the window.

that is the sound of the metal hatch on the window rattling against the locking mechanism. you especially hear it when you are driving on a bumpy/rocky road. you can wrap the metal latch on the window with some electrical tape. It quiets down the noise. if you can get a hold of some liquid rubber that will work and stay better...

I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Im getting a rattle under the jeep. It sounds like metal hitting metal its not the exhaust for that is not hittig anything. it sounds like its to the rear. Someone said...

Your jeep has two upper and two lower control arms attached to the rear axle. They have rubber bushings where they bolt to the axle and to the body. If the bushings are badly deteriorated, you will get a metal to metal sound when hitting bumps. Have them all checked.

Clunk noise from front passenger side when

That noise sounds to me like a Ball Joint problem. I would check to see if you have fittings to grease the front suspention.

its probably your bump stops. the vw ones are very soft. i bought ford escort (the shape after the xr3) ones and cut them a little down to fit. i think the noise is either your shock touching or the sound of the tire scraping the body of the car. hope this helps.
