How do I replace rear strut and spring

Replace it as a unit. Strut, spring, strut mount all in one. It's called a quick strut. Raise car by the body not the wheel. Remove brake line (1 bolt) from strut lower. Remove 2 large bolts holding lower strut end. In the trunk 3 smaller bolts hold the strut mount (upper end) in place. DO NOT remove the single large nut at the top of the strut assembly. Wiggle the strut assembly out. Slide the new strut assembly in bolt it back in. Put wheel back on. Done.

How to comprese strut on a2000 Buick lesaber

you can take the strut cartridge from the top, without disassembling spring and knuckle, there are there are 3 15 mm bolt on strut 9need to be torqued to 24 LB FEET) then you need special tool to take the strut mount and cover out ,(it is 24 mm bolt that you have to put #50 torx bit in the center to keep strut rod from tuning NEED 59 LB FEET of torque)

,then you take the bumper, mount and the boot out to put the special tool to keep the strut cartridge in place or it will shift side way ,and you have to tow the car to shop to get it done!!!,after that you use special tool to loosen the cartridge cover (NEED 82 LB FEET WHEN PUT BACK)take the strut out, suck the oil with the hand pump out,and put 50CC back,as it needed to help cool down the strut,( when you put new strut in the oil level should cover half of the strut no more) ,and reverse the process after that,

this is the tool you need,

How do you remove stabilus lift-o-mat liftgate

Most of these lift struts can be removed by propping up the gate and prying off the strut ends from their balljoint ends. Some struts have a broad metal band that acts as a spring or retainer and you may have to slide that band off and then pop the old strut off.
To put the new one on, just center the socket over the strut and press it on or tap it with a small hammer. Make sure you put it on with the strut body either up or down the same way as the one you took off. Normally the body goes to the car and the shaft to the tailgate/hatch/trunk.

I installed rear struts and now the trac off light and abs light is on

Did you attach everything back the way it was before you took it apart? Sometimes those abs sensors get ruined in the process. Diy on my car and messed it all up. Try disconnecting battery to reset it if you think everything was put back correctly.

How do you replace the struts on a 2006 dodge 1500 pickup?

put the front of the truck on a lift and the take out old one's with socket set and install new ones with new bushing and when installing bushings on to the strut grease them and if you have a vise it is 10 times easier, but afetr the new ones are assembled just put them on the same way you took the old ones off.

Install front struts

I tried to install struts on a car before. I will tell you this, you have to take it somewhere. Unless you have a spring compressor. Because you have to jack the car up, take the tire off, loosen the ball joint. Then use a pry bar and pop the transaxle out of the transmission. Take the three bolts out on the top of the coil spring, under the hood. Then the assymbly will fall down.
Then after I got it out, I took the nut off the strut and it jumped out about 5 inches and could never get it back together again. I tried every redneck solution I had. But could not compress the spring back down enough to put it back together. It would take something that weighs as much as a car.
I hope this helps. Good Luck

Struts fail after car put on lift for tires at Sears

This is a known problem with the REAR struts, but not the front. This repair under warranty will have to be decided by the DPSM (District Parts Service Manager) serving that dealership. Good Luck.

Rear struts failed after dealer put car on lift.

you have a reason to be doubtful. very seldom would something like that occur unless the srut was near it's peak functionming and starting to fail. the strut is always under pressure because of the spring so " not meshing sounds bogus to me. i have been a mechanic for over 20 years and i can't give you one example of this happening on your model of car or any other models. to be quite honest a strut that fails only after 4-5 years very seldom happens to begin with. but does happen. my advice is to take it to a small shop whjere the quality of work is better and the cost cheaper and have them examine it. let me know what they say and get back to me. just click my user name on this site i will be more than happy to help you further if there is more questions that you have
