I RAN INTO A PROMBLEM MUCH LIKE THIS ONE ON A 98 S10 PU I OWNED. WHEN I DID A FUEL PRESSURE TEST IT WAS WITHIN SPECS BUT I DIDN'T DO A FUEL VOLUME TEST. WHEN YOU FIRST HIT THE KEY THE FUEL PUMP KICKS ON AND GAVE ME PROPER FUEL PRESSURE BUT WHEN I PULLED THE LINE AND HIT THE KEY IT BARELY SPIT OUT A 1/4 CUP OF GAS. I TRACED THE PROBLEM BACK TO BEING AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE PUMP.
OH AND BY THE WAY I AM FACING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM ON OUR 96 TACOMA DELIVERY TRUCK. I'M GOING TO BE DOING THIS TEST HERE SHORTLY AND I WILL LET YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT I FIND OUT.

Possible fuel delivery problem, fuel pump, fuel line, clogged fuel filter, leaking injectors or injector O-rings, faulty pressure regulator etc. Check your fuel pressure.

Sounds like you have an intermittant problem, check all your wirirng, then you can move on to ignition related coil reluctor wheel ( in side the distribitor electronic control module again inside the distribitor. It could also be a fuel system problem do you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn on the key, the fuel pump should cycle until it devlops adequate pressure ( usually 3 - 4 seconds)

Changing the belt on your car will not make it idle rough, it would not matter if you put it on backwards, upside down, or inside out. The car would just spin the belt off or chew it up. I think that possibly a sensor wire or a vacuum line was broken or knocked off when you were installing the belt. Look for something like that and I think you will find your problem.

Tap on the mass air flow, and see if it changes idle,if it does,it is the problem,If the throttle position has to be tapped on,then it could be defective, change it out for a new one.
