Is the battery light on? If so, the alternator is probably bad. The battery starts the car. The car runs off the alternator, and keeps the battery charged.

Periodic battery light flickers on my 2003 town car.if you just tap on brake or flicker headlights .is there a separate diode that could cause this?

You have a defective alternator, that what is most likely causing the flickering light. A voltage output test will not reveal this.

My 1994 lincoln town car cranks but cuts back off?

If the alternator is not charging the fuel pump wont run either. This is a safety feature so in case there is an accident the fuel pump wont run. Fix the alternator and you'll be good to go.

1999linclon town car do not charge overnite good battery and alternator

Did you replace cable ends? Sometimes the cable side gets corroded inside the wire covering. May look like the battery is clean of corrosion and well attached but it's the cable side the battery post fitting. Try changing the ends. A cheap and easdy solution.

Why does the battery light go on and off randomly?

It will usually go on when the battery is charging up, you will rarely see it because the battery is always full. Either your battery is getting weak or something is draining it. Don't rule out a voltage regulator in the alternator. Go to walmart and get the battery tested, It will tell you a lot.

You have a bare wire short some where. Look around the alternator and starter. Also look and smell for smoke or burn rubber smell.
