Very doubtful, have the fuel pressure checked, and change the fuel filter, when you pull the fuel filter, blowing threw it by mouth can tell you if it is restricted at all,it should not be hard to blow threw,if it is ,that is the problem, run some codes on the system, and see what the codes are that are stored in the computer to see if this will help narrow the problem down.

It is normal to loose vacuum on acceleration, now,is there any codes? And does the engine run rough?

There is a knock sensor,on the right side of the block, down low,but above the oil pan, looks like a bell, with one wire going to it,it is a green wire, check the connection to it,and tell me when you have checked it.

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 24, 2010

Check the return line to the tank, and the fuel pressure regulator,if it does not allow the fuel to return to the fuel tank, the engine will bog down bad, plus check the timing, and the est module if equipped, some are built into the ignition module, also, how did you check the knock sensor? If the knock sensor is bad,it will bog like a big dog!

    OK,let me know.

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 24, 2010

That is not the knock sensor,it does not fit in a whole with a water jacket.

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 24, 2010

this is what it looks like

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 24, 2010

I sent you a picture of it,and the knock sensor does not screw into a hole with a water jacket, the hole it screws into has a bottom in it,where is the part located you removed?

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 24, 2010

Some one has bored out the hole, into a water jacket,or it is in the wrong place, the est module is a dealer part,if it is separate on the engine,it is mounted all by itself,it is flat, and has a 3 inch flat plug connected to it,the est module is most likely built into the module on this module, how many pins does the ignition module have?

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 24, 2010

this is the module,it is mounted somewhere on the fire wall or on a bracket near the valve cover on passengers side, but the ignition module also has a by pass for this in the distributor,it could be either one of the parts that are bad.

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 24, 2010

This est module is the advance of the timing, this is what gives the engine power,so yes this is the problem, but it can be the ignition module also, they work together, the ignition module has the by pass in it,it may not be working,or it can be the est module, napa can test the module for you to make sure before you order the est module,I have replaced about 10 est modules in my life, and only one of them was the problem,it ended up being the ignition module on most of them, and the others it was the ignition module, and the pick up coil in the distributor.

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 24, 2010

Did you get the picture of the est module?

  • Ronny Bennett Sr.
Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 24, 2010

Sometimes the computer will have to notice the problem a lot of times to set the code, but If I was any help, please let them know, thank you, just follow the directions on the page,Thank you and You have a good knowledge of automotive, you will get her going,I am sure the est module will solve the problem for you.

Ronny Bennett Sr. Apr 26, 2010

This is very complicated on this car but the esc,or est module is on the vin e the vin f model it does not have one,if it was there it would be behind the distributor on firewall towards the passengers side a bit..the knock sensor either has the white connector,or the black connector on it,the white is for vin e,and the black is for vin f,,I have some schematics, when I get home I will send them to you if needed, let me know when you get this info

Nissan maxima 2000 replace solenoid/page-2

If the transaxle is all factory original & it does not
up shift as well as has a code & no OD,then you
may as well put it out & rebuild it.

Close to 14 years is great for any transmission.

In the future you change your trans & power steering
fluids every 3 years & at first sign of any trans issue
you stop driving it immediately, drive no more than
5 miles to get home or to a shop or you have what you
have , a $3,000.00 bill coming up to pay

91 ford ranger v6 3.0 changed the catalytic convertors and muffler but it still bogs down while driving on highway. and the oil pressure has not came back up and one other thing it has now quit starting....

Yes it could be the computer but that is rare on Ford products.
If the coil and ignition module are not getting power, it may be a relay problem. If the computer can not be scanned, the computer may be bad.
What were the codes ?

Okay, i just got done pulling my spark plugs and wires out so i could test my spark. Only two plugs are firing right. And those two plugs are on the same coil pack. The other two are only firing...

The spark issue is caused by the coil packs, this will cause the bogging down, the smoke could be from several issues beside the spark, can't tell till you repair the coil packs

Bogs down when shifts into 3rd gear and speed levels out

there are several possibilities. by bogging down do you mean the engine runs smooth but looses power? or does the engine/car start shaking and doesnt want to go any faster? if the engine runs smooth and doesnt seem to be shaking...can you hear a noise from the engine compartment? or a hi pressure noise from the rear of the vehicle - like a vacuum cleaner? if so then you probably have a plugged catalytic converter. if the engine seems to shake the van and looses power until you let up on the throttle slightly then you have a misfiring condition which can be caused by bad plug wires, plugs or a coil breaking down. as you shift up in gears the spark needed to each cylinder is increased and if you have bad plugs, wires or coil the spark wont get to the cylinder when it is needed. see if any of this sounds similar to your condition and request more info from me if ya like. good luck. carefull the converter can cause a fire if it gets too hot!
